Chapter 9
"It's nice to meet you. Tessa's talked about you before." Theo said, offering his hand to Caitlyn, who took it firmly. They shook hands in greeting, sharing kind smiles. "I've heard mostly good things."
"Mostly?" Caitlyn asked, raising her eyebrow and giving me a questioning look. "What does he mean by mostly?"
I glared at Theo who, with both hands in his pockets, shrugged innocently before sitting on one of the vacant couches. "Just stating the facts." He said casually smiling at Caitlyn.
"Yes, I think I remember you mostly saying good things about Caitlyn." Tristan added, sitting on the third couch, grinning slightly.
I frowned at the two boys, unimpressed with their little game. "Did you two just come here to tease me?" I asked seriously, giving the two boys a side long glare.
Thistle hopped off of my lap to stand in front of Tristan, both hands on her hips and a frown on her face. "Don't be mean to Tessa, Tristan. It's not nice!"
"Hey! Don't blame me! It was Theo's idea, he's the mean one!" Tristan defended, unable to handle being scolded by Thistle.
Theo clicked his tongue, placing his chin in his palm with an unimpressed look on his face. "Way to ruin it, Tristan."
"Theo, you're such a loser. I can't believe you're dragging Tristan into your pranks." I told Theo, rolling my eyes at his childishness.
"Hey!" Theo exclaimed, narrowing his eyes at me.
I heard a muffled chuckle from beside me and all four of us turned to look at Caitlyn, who was suppressing her laughter. "Sorry," she giggled, "you guys are just really funny to watch." Caitlyn commented, giggling again. "It's cute."
Theo and Tristan looked at each other, both with confused expressions on their faces. "Did she just call us cute?"
Theo frowned, looking perplexed. "I think she did."
Tristan began rubbing his chin, as if deep in thought. "I don't know how I feel about that."
"Well I like it!" Thistle exclaimed from her current position in front of Tristan, enthusiastically raising her hand.
Thistle quickly ran back to my side and leaned in so she was close to my ear, "I think Caitlyn is really nice." Thistle whispered, unknowingly loud enough for everyone to hear.
Caitlyn began to grin again, but tried to hide it by discretely covering her mouth so to not be caught by Thistle.
"Oh yeah?" I loudly whispered back, smiling at Thistle. Thistle shyly nodded back in agreement.
I quickly glanced up at Theo and Tristan and saw them softly smiling at Thistle's pure innocence, something everyone in the pack dedicated their lives to try and protect.
Theo suddenly looked up and his expression became sour. "Oops, we must've taken too long." He said casually, giving me an embarrassed smile.
I looked the opposite direction from Thistle and saw Tom walking towards us, an unimpressed look on his face. Tristan's face looked slightly guilty also and I raised an eyebrow in question at the two of them.
"Tam sent you three to find Tessa half an hour ago. If you found her, you should've brought her back." Tom said, pointedly staring at his younger brother, who looked away with a heavy sigh.
