Chapter 8

Tyler soon took the lead again, seeing as I wasn't quite sure where he was taking me.

Well, I knew our ultimate destination; I just didn't know the way to get there.

"Just so you know, Caitlyn may attack you."

"What?" I exclaimed incredulously, giving Tyler a look of half disbelief, half surprise. "Attack me?"

Tyler grined, looking at me from over his shoulder. "Yeah, attack you. You know, tackle you to the ground as she attempts to give you a traditional "girlfriend hug", also known as 'glomping.'"

I let a small sigh of relief pass through me. I imagined something much more violent and deadly.

Tyler, seeing the look of fear and worry slip off my face began to laugh. "What's that look for, Sweetheart? You didn't think I meant she was literally going to attack you, did you?" Tyler kept laughing, ignoring the glare I was sending his way which would have turned any metaphorical person into dust.

"It's been four years. Her brothers may have brainwashed her. Werewolves can be very scary." I pointed out in my defense just as we stepped out of the forest so I could now clearly see all the small cottage-like houses. Pack members were walking by casually, some in groups and some by themselves, minding their own business, maybe on their way to do something productive with their day.

It was the end of summer after all.

"Ouch. That hurts you know." Tyler said sarcastically, placing an unsympathetic hand against his heart.

"Oh please, like such a petty insult-" all of a sudden, something hard and heavy, but at the same time delicate, tackled me from the right side and sent me flying to the ground where, unprepared for the sudden impact, I landed with my left shoulder hitting the ground hard, followed by my head colliding with the earth.

In my distortion of what the hell was up and down I couldn't make out anything that would give me any hints as to what had just hit me. However, I could hear Tyler laughing harder than he was before. I soon became aware of a pressure that was tightly wrapped around me.

I was also certain that there was going to be a nice bruise on my shoulder, if only for a few hours.

"Oh my god," Tyler gasped through his laughter. "your face!"

I groaned in response, attempting to roll out of whatever was keeping me prisoner so I could stand up. The pressure around my torso loosened before disappearing completely and I was able to at the very least roll over so I was now lying on my back, looking up at a very cheery face which supported long, loose, blonde curls and bright blue eyes. This face, which belonged to a female, had pink lips, tan skin and dimples. All in all she was very pretty.

I knew that face.

"I hate it when you're right." I groaned before sitting up and rubbing my left shoulder which still throbbed with a dull ache.

Tyler didn't reply, he was laughing too hard.

"Sorry about that. I was just so excited to see you and I kind of forgot your werewolf senses aren't as sharp as my brothers." Caitlyn said, casually waving her right hand dismissively and not looking sorry at all. "I'm just so excited!" She exclaimed again, jumping a little and giving me another hug, albeit less aggressive.

Before I could even wrap my arms around Caitlyn's small frame to give her a much deserved hug, she pulled back, clutching my shoulders tightly.

I winced slightly, though she didn't seem to notice. "Follow me. I want to talk to you, away from werewolf jerks." Caitlyn proclaimed, sticking her tongue at Tyler and tugging at my shoulders.
