Chapter 10
The last week before summer passed by very quickly and by Monday, Theo, Thistle, Tristan and I were being sent off to high school for the foreseeable future. Most of us were bitter about being sent back to school after, at least, four years of being removed from formal education. I wasn't particularly excited to be treated like a wild child, or an idiot. Even if Alpha Stone assured me all of us could easily access tutors, I was still uncomfortable with being surrounded by people who were, according to society, more educated than I was.
Also, I didn't even completely understand why Alpha Stone was putting those eligible in school in the first place. Part of me guessed it was probably to keep us either separated, or to moderate us at all times. Truth be told, it was probably a bit of both.
I was also displeased about the fact that Tyler would be giving myself, and Lucas a ride to school. Luckily, Caitlyn bullied Tyler into giving her a ride, ditching her brother Stephen, to keep me company. If I didn't already adore Caitlyn before, I did now.
During the entire car ride, Tyler spent the majority of his time bragging about his truck and Lucas was just being annoying. I tried the best I could to ignore them, opting to chat casually with Caitlyn about anything that would come to mind. I talked a lot about my travels and all the places I'd been while Caitlyn chatted about Bluemoon life after I'd left.
I was also glad that Tyler and his goons were a year older than me so I didn't have to deal with them. The only time I'd have to deal with them would be at lunch and, if fate hated me, probably gym class. This time, however, I wouldn't be alone.
And that was more comforting than anything else.
By the time we pulled into the parking lot, I was clutching my shoulder bag so tightly my knuckles were white while trying to resist the urge to literally cave Lucas' skull in. As soon as Tyler parked his truck, I was out the door and running towards the school's front entrance. If I heard anything more about Lucas' sexual endeavours,' I was seriously going to kill someone.
This was clearly not a good start to my day.
Behind me, I heard an assortment of doors opening and closing and one person running towards me. As they approached, I smelt that is was Caitlyn and slowed down my pace to let her catch up. "Were you just as annoyed as I am about hearing Lucas rant and rant about all the people who he either flirted with and or slept with? Because if I hear any more of those freaking stories, I am going to-"
"Explode?" Caitlyn said, cutting me off because I could finish. "Don't worry, he's just an annoying guy like that. I don't know how it happened though; his parents are such nice people..." Caitlyn said, trailing off as she pondered on her thoughts.
I scoffed. "Well, clearly something went wrong somewhere."
Caitlyn hit my shoulder lightly, laughing. "Don't say that about Colton and Raven. Especially Raven, she's the best!"
Raven was a sort of idol among the female wolves. She had been kidnapped and held with other kidnapped women by a rogue pack the Bluemoon pack had been hunting. When she was found, she had bruises on her face and was standing in front of all the other women bravely. Even my mother had been fond of her the first time they met.
"Well then either Lucas is adopted, or there's something wrong in his brain." I said seriously as I scowled in memory of the car ride I had to suffer.
"I heard that!" Lucas called out from behind us, his voice sounding playfully offended. Instead of turning around, I quickened my pace so I could get away from the Tyler and Lucas for as long as I could.
