"Jade!" I yelled as I barged into my bedroom- very exhausted and jet-lagged- to find my girlfriend, Jade, laying there on her stomach, waiting for me.
"Riley!" she mocked.
I dropped all of my bags on the floor and just wrapped my arms around her, like it was the last time I would ever get to hold her.
"I've missed you so much," I whispered and I felt Jade bury her face into the crook of my neck as I kissed her temple, letting my lips linger on her skin for a few seconds, before pulling away and smiling at her.
"How was the tour?"
"It was amazing! We had so much fun!" I exclaimed, getting excited all over again. Before You Exit had gone on another headlining tour, making our fan base grow even bigger than it already was. We even took Braiden along with us as a supporting act. Although, it did keep me away from my parents and my beloved girlfriend for two and a half months. I guess, everything good always has a downside.
"Did you meet any pretty girls while on tour?"
"Jade," I whined. "You know I love you, and only you."
"I know. I know. I love myself too," Jade joked as she rolled her eyes and I laughed at her silliness
"But seriously, I really do love you, Jade."
"I know. I love you too," she replied, but there was an edge to her voice, like she was trying to hold something back. "Riley, I have to tell you something."
"Anythi–" I was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing and I pulled it out of my pocket to see who was trying to call me. It was Toby.
I gestured for Jade to tell me what she had to tell me later, before I left the room to take the call. I didn't really understand why I decided to answer, because it was just Toby and he was actually just downstairs. Something just kept on yelling at me to get out of the room and I had no idea why.
"What do you want?" I questioned as soon as I accepted the call.
"Hi Riley!" Toby replied, cheerily. It was the complete opposite of my bored and uninterested tone.
"What do you want?" I repeated. "And you're literally just downstairs. Have you really become that lazy?"
"Well, I would've came up, but I didn't want to walk into you and your girlfriend making out on your bed."
"We did not make out!"
"Yet," Toby added, trying to mask a snicker, but failing miserably.
"Why did you call me?"
"Oh yeah! I just wanted to let you know that we're playing at a fundraiser next week," he said and I could hear his faint voice talking to me from downstairs, serving as some kind of echo. I was standing right by the stairs and he must've passed by them, making me hear both his actual voice, and the voice that was talking to me on the phone.
"Alright. Can I go back to Jade now, please," I begged. I missed my girlfriend to pieces and I didn't want to be away from her for a single second.
"You guys are adorably disgusting," Toby said and I could see him downstairs, sitting on the couch and shaking his head. "But I'll let you have your alone time with your princess."
"Thanks," I hung up and stuffed my phone in the pocket of my denim jacket, then walked back into my room and plopped down on my bed, making Jade jump in surprise.
"Hello princess," I cooed, flashing her a charming smile.
"Whatever you're trying to do, it isn't working on me. I am immune to your charm."
"Then how did you become my girlfriend?"
"I did it against my will."
I wrapped one arm around her waist and pulled her onto my lap, making her upper body face me and the other half hang from the edge of the bed. "But you love me."
"I love you, but I don't know why."
"Face it, Jade. I'm irresistible," I said, combing a hand through my hair- which was all messed up from the plane ride home.
"Don't get too over your head."
We laughed it off after that conversation and I told her a few stories from when we were on tour and she told me what she had been up to for the last two and a half months. Of course, my stories were a lot more interesting than hers. I was talking about different states, and countries, and famous landmarks, and Jade was talking about doctor's appointments and how much she'd missed me. Then in the middle of our not-so-interesting conversation, I remembered what she had said before I left the room a while ago.
"What did you have to tell me again?" I questioned as I placed my hand on the side of her head, pushing on it a little, so that she could rest it on my chest and listen to my heartbeat.
"Huh?"
"Before I went to answer the call, you said that you needed to tell me something," I reminded her. "What was it?"
Suddenly, I could feel the brightness and the joy get sucked out of the room, and it was replaced by an uncomfortable tension that made me squirm.
"It's nothing important."
"Are you sure about that?" I asked, making sure that she wasn't trying to hide anything.
"I promise," she added and poked my nose, making me jerk back a little because I wasn't expecting her actions.
"Good."
"I love you, Ri," she said, with a bright smile on her pretty face.
"I love you too, Jade."
I could already feel my eyelids falling and I tried my best to stay awake because my body clock was already messed up and I had to readjust to Florida time. I wanted to stay awake though. I really did, because I missed Jade to death and I wanted to spend every free second I got with her, but jet lag seemed to be fighting against me, as usual.
"Go to sleep, Riley. I bet you're exhausted," Jade said, making me lay down and tucking me in, under the covers, as she did the same and cuddled up to my side.
I didn't have the energy to fight or to say no. I was too tired to do and say anything, so I just gave in and let my eyelids close shut as I drifted off into a blank dream.
