me and my beautiful girlfriend laid on the couch, my body ontop of hers while we watched the news.
our minds not focusing on the scenes unfolding on the television, hypnotised by the flashing lights
"breaking news!" the news presenter said
"just in, roe v wade has been overturned. confirming from the senators in the office, this is a saddening discovery. abortion is now officially illegal." the woman spoke
me and hailee shot up at the same time, staring at the tv with fear.
we both knew what this meant, our daughters future could be at risk.
my heart sank and i grew nervous.
hailee saw my discomfort and pulled me into a hug so i wouldn't cry
"we'll be okay baby" she reassured
"what if they ban gay marriage? what will we do then" i whispered
"i don't know...i'll have to marry you soon because i can't loose this y/n " hailees voice cracked
she picked up her phone a searched something up, after a few seconds she huffed loudly.
"is it bad?" i asked referring to her phone
"they're discussing it" she spoke softly
hailee didn't need to explain what she was on about, i already knew she was talking about gay marriage.
i couldn't help it but cry, my head in her shoulder crying my heart out.
hailee cried with me.
knowing that we may not be able to get married kills me
"don't worry my love, i'm gonna make sure you're mine before they go ahead with it" her voice cracked
knowing that many other younger lgbtq+ people may not be able to get married too broke my heart.
me and hailee could resolve our problem easily but so many others can't and they will have to live with that pain forever.
we sat and cried more before our eldest daughter came walking into the lounge.
"...what did i miss" the teenager froze
"they've banned abortions y/d/n.." hailee said while standing up
"you're lying.."
hailee pulled her into a hug and apologised to her
"you've got to be careful okay..i hate to say this but this is a huge risk"
"i know mom i know"
"wait...cant they ban gay rights too?" our daughter spoke with concern
"mhm it's in discussion honey" i replied
"oh my fucking god!...sorry for my language but what the actual fuck! they cant do that!? that's so fucking unfair dude!" she yelled
me and hailee both laughed at her anger and agreed with her statement
"it pisses me off too! i might not be able to marry your mama it kills me !!" hailee yelled
"fuck the government!!!" our daughter yelled
"FUCK THE GOVERNMENT." hailee yelled back
"FUCK THE GOVERNMENTTT!" we all yelled together laughing
after our laughing we were greeted with a comfortable silence
"better hurry up and propose to mama then, mom" the teen spoke cockily while walking out the room shoving chocolate in her face
"oh i will!" hailee yelled down the hall
she walked towards me and sat next to me on the couch, pulling me into her lap
"i will marry you. i promise." she whispered
"good. i cant wait to be a steinfeld" i giggled
"mhmm, y/n steinfeld..sounds sexy" hailee giggled
"oh shut up"

this story can be very hard for some people so i tried to end it on a happy note
its a very sensitive topic and it is such a step back in society.
i really despise what it has come to and how we are literally loosing our human rights.
as someone who lives in Britain i am very privileged to not live in America, i am so so sorry to all the venerable women there.
i myself as a woman apart of the lgbtq+ community finds this whole situation terrifying for our future.
something has to change.
