I wondered aimlessly in the rain, it was already dark outside and I was tired. I was lost. I admit I shouldn't have snuck out to go and get a muffin from java jones.

In my head I knew how easy it was to get there.

A left and a right.

Easy.

I had turned right then left then I tried to backtrack and by the amount of turns I had taken I knew I wasn't going the right way.

Then I crossed over the bridge and that when I knew for sure I shouldn't be here. I took a break on the other side. Then I decided to turn back but I got lost even further.

I had been walking for hours before the sun set.

I was near a park.

Mom had taken me and clary here before, either I was walking towards home or even farther away, but I wasn't sure.

A drop of water landed on my nose, as I looked up at the sky it started to pour.

I walked about 2 more blocks before I stopped and crouched down under the cover of a roof.

I was terrified. It was dark and raining and I was lost.

The rain doesn't let up at all and I'm thinking hard about what I'm going to do, when I hear a clank of someone dropping something about 2 feet away from me. I reach forward and pick it up, it looks like a pen of some sorts.

It looks like its made of crystals or maybe a type of glass, I run to the woman that dropped it, "Hey! Wait a minute." I run in front of her, shivering slightly in the rain. I hold out the pen to her, "You dropped this miss."

A street light nearby allows me to see her face slightly, she had a stern but pretty face, she didn't look wet at all, she was covered in black tattoos. Her dark hair was tied back out of her face. She reached out and took the pen then bent down.

"You can see me?" she asks me seriously

I giggle, "Miss of course I see you. I'm not blind."

A look flashes across her face, "Are you a Shadowhunter?"

I tilt my head, "What's that?"

Her expression looks complex, I hear her mumble something, "A mundane with the sight? Not unheard of."

She then raises her voice for me to hear clearly, "What are you doing walking alone? Where are you parents?"

I frown and look down at the ground, "I'm lost, I don't know where my mom is."

She smiled and reaches to pick me up, she seems nice so I let her. She holds me and walks forward, she is silent the whole way there. When she stops we look like we are at a Cathedral.

She puts me down, "What do you see?" I describe the pretty building confused. She takes me inside.

"Where do you live?"

I analyze my situation, she doesn't look like a kidnapper.

"In Brooklyn near Java Jones coffee shop."

She smiles, "Why don't you stay here tonight, and I'll take you home tomorrow."

I think about, Moms gonna be really mad, she's gonna get back around noon tomorrow, and I doubt Dot, our downstairs neighbor has noticed.

I nod my head.

"Okay."

I speak through clenched teeth.

I'm freezing. She holds my hand and leads me into an elevator.

When we get out of the elevator she leads me to a room, she stops in front of it shakes her head and goes to the room beside it, "I was going to let you borrow some of my daughter Izzy's clothes but you are a little bit taller than her, my son is a little bigger than you but it should be fine."
