[6 years later]
Clary was close to being sixteen, and I was already seventeen. Clary seemed particularly happy today, I suddenly remember that Simon is coming by to take her to the Pandemonium Club, must be where the joy is coming from.
There's a knock on the door and by the time I go to open the door Clary is already opening the door saying bye to mom and shutting the door behind her.
I smile and stand up, "Mom, I'm going out too."
She looks up from her painting, well canvas since she hasn't painted anything, "Where are you going?"
I look down at my phone, "I'm going to the Library to study a bit, then I'm going to go to the park."
At the mention of the park the hand holding the paintbrush shakes, "Be careful for muggers. Just don't come back too late. Alright."
I tap my finger on the doorframe, "Curfew, I know, don't worry I'll be back in time. Love you mom."
I know what she's worried about, Faeries. Devious creatures, said to have the beauty of an angel and the heart of a demon. They are everywhere in the park, maybe that's why I like the park, it allows me to be close to the Shadow World, without having to interact with any of them. They keep to themselves most of the time.
I leave the apartment and catch a cab to the Park, I pay the fare and walk.
I walk around the park stopping at a bench overlooking a pond, or rather one of the many Entrances to the Faerie Courts.
Though I don't intend to get that close.
I stare out into the water, this is peaceful.
Once in a while I'll hear the hard breathing of a runner, a cry of a child, the movement of an animal, a plop of a fish, but none of that matters.
A few hours in and I hear the scream of a woman, "My purse! Give it back!"
I watch the thief run off with the woman's purse and turn my head, my eyes landing on a nixie by the water. Or maybe that's a Pixie, I don't really know.
Eventually the Faerie turns to look at me but I was already looking somewhere else.
I let out a bored sigh and spend a few more peaceful hours by the water before standing and going back home.
When I get there Clary isn't home yet and Jocelyn seems worried.
The world is dangerous so it makes sense.
Finally when Clary does get home Jocelyn goes off on her, yelling a bunch of stuff that I didn't really bother listening to.
When I woke up Mom was gone, I asked Clary where she went, and all she knew was that she left with Luke early in the morning.
While Clary went to her room to talk to Simon and probably draw, I went in my room taking out the notebook and reading through it. I already read through it a few times these past few days but I was never able to get far into it, as I would be interrupted.
I turned the page and a picture slipped out, "Hm?" I look at the picture. That's mom, I think that's me but who are the other two? I flip the picture over and I see written in neat handwriting 'Johnathan and Eleanor' I stare at the name, maybe it was a childhood friend or something.
A playmate or something?
No, mom is holding that mans hand and he looks like he's in love.
Strange.
I put it back and read child me's thoughts.
So I thought this guy could be my father?
Then this means that the kid could be my brother.
