It should be around 11, maybe 12, but I don't know.

I open the map.

If I'm here, then I need to follow along this road. If I make it to Midtown and catch a cab then I should have enough money to make it to Chinatown, the cab ride will give me a break to catch my breath then I just need to walk across the bridge and follow this road to get back home.

Okay perfect.

I collect my damp clothes and decide what to do with them.

I end up simply holding them in my arms along with the books.

I wait about 30 minutes before leaving the room, and shut the door quietly.

She met me once she's not gonna look for me.

This was all just out of kindness.

I glance down at the clothes I am wearing and smile slightly.

Mentally I thank that boy and quickly find my way out the Institute.

I look at the map and get to Midtown, there according to my plan I catch a cab. I get in the back and the driver looks back, "Where to kid?"

He grins and I swear he has teeth like a dog would, but some people just have canines. I look down at the money in my hand, "How much money is it to get to Chinatown." He looks at my shaking hands. "Five dollars."

I look up suddenly, "Really? Um then how much to get to Park Slope?"

He thinks, "Should be about 20."

Why is the price so low. I thought it would be much more.

We drive off.

"Do you know where Java Jones coffee shop is?"

He nods, "I do. Is that where we're going?"

I look out the window. "Yes."

When the car stops, I pay him all the money in my hand and get out.

I wave and watch him drive away, I run down the street and finally see my house, I open the door and quietly make my way across the room, making sure not to alert Dot who lives in the downstairs apartment, and who is supposed to be watching me.

I make my way up the stairwell, I open the front door and lock it behind me. I let out a deep breath and run to my room.

Once I close the door and hide the two books in my dresser drawer I fall asleep.

The next morning I wake up still kind of tired and hear clamoring in the kitchen, I smell pancakes.

I look down at my clothes, change out of them and carefully fold the clothes and hide them under my bed.

I open the door and go into the kitchen.

"Momma. You're back."

I smile and hug her waist.

She flips a pancake and smiles down at me, "I got back a little early, did you behave for Dot yesterday."

I nod my head profusely, "Of course I did. Where is Clary?"

I look around and hear my mother say, "She's right over there."

I look over to see my younger sister trying to eat a crayon with great interest.

I sigh and walk over to her with a laugh, taking the crayon from her mouth and urging her to color the page instead. She gives me a long look before drawing a circle on the page, I grab a piece of paper for myself and begin drawing.
