Leap 9: The Powerhouse Squad

One month after the Three Deities War...

Chifuyu visits his twin at the hospital before his shift at the pet shop. 

"Takemichi is all healed up. Now, all we need is for you to be in shape!" He smiles cheerfully.

Chiaki raises her arm and snuggles Chifuyu's head, "The doctor says I should be able to go home tonight."

Chifuyu perks up, 'REALLY?" Chiaki nods at her twin's antics, "Hell yeah!" He cheers. Then he looks down at his watch, "SHIT! I'm gonna be late for work.

Chiaki giggles and kisses him on the cheek, "Don't bully Takemichi too much okay? Forgive him for me."

Chifuyu looks at her in confusion and thinks, 'I'm not meeting him today...'

Once Chifuyu leaves, Chiaki looks down solemnly.

"Gosh! I'm not mentally prepared for this lame gang name and logo."

She suddenly looks up in determination. "Okay! New plan!"

Chiaki grabs the crutches on the side of her bed and walks out of her room. She passes by multiple rooms until she sees a familiar name.

KUROKAWA IZANA

She walks into his room seeing a slightly older male than what was shown in the manga. She hobbles to the chair next to the white-haired male who was covered in wires and tubes.

"It's been two years..." She starts out.

She sighs not knowing how to start a conversation with an unconscious human being.

Chiaki holds his hand, "My name is Chiaki Matsuoka. You don't know me, but you know of my brother, Chifuyu." her lips quiver as she starts to beg, "The past month, I saw the events that will unfold in the future. I am begging you! Please wake up." Chiaki's eyes start to water, "I need you to wake up. If you don't Kakucho will die."

Her voice gets hoarse and the volume grows lower, "Mikey isn't the same without you. He is giving in to his dark impulsivity. I'm asking you since you are strong. Help me save everyone."

As she tries to compose herself, the door suddenly opens.

Chiaki's face pales at the male before her.

'SHIT! Why did Sano Manjiro have to come now?'

"What's up? Tryna pick a fight right after you got discharged?" Chifuyu was unamused by Takemichi's past actions.

Takemichi gulps, "Um... I'm.... really sorry. I wasn't myself back then." He puts a hand behind his head in nervousness, "Y'see I was... struggling with my own stupidity"

Chifuyu turns away from his ex-partner, "If ya cam here to talk about that, then just leave."

Takemichi panics, "I was thinking of a new team!" Chifuyu stops, "A team that can defeat Kanto Manji Gang!"

Takemichi stands firm in determination, "I know this is too much to ask for, but come fight with me, Chifuyu."

Without turning around chifuyu replies to his resolve, "You're too late."

Takemichi gets disappointed, "You're right..."

Chifuyu smiles, "I'll be sending a resignation letter, so you better wait!"

Takemichi looks up in shock. "I can't get the store in trouble y'know."

Chifuyu smiles at Takemichi, "So wait for me, okay, partner?"

Takemichi feels blessed to have a friend like him and sobs, "You... CHIFUYU!!"

Chifuyu is frazzled, "UOH!? You Idiot! Don't cry so loud! You're making a commotion!" He tries to playfully run away from the crybaby that was chasing him.

"Who are you?" 

Chiaki tries to stand up while being supported by her crutches.

Mikey glares at the mysterious girl in his brother's hospital room.

Without faltering her confidence, Chiaki smiles, "I'm a friend of your brother's, before the Tenjiku incident. I recently moved here which is why I couldn't visit until now."

Mikey sizes the girl up, "I see." He notices the girl is also a patient in the hospital which makes him slightly suspicious of her. 

"Well, I better be going now. I don't want to disturb your time with your brother. Bye!" Chiaki hobbles her way out of the room as fast as she can. 

The moment the door closes. Mikey looks in the direction the girl left from, "How did she know, we're brothers?"

"Got it! I'll join!" Hakkai answers with a thumbs up and a smile on his face. However, he will soon come to regret it once he realizes what he will be fighting in. 

Chifuyu cheers, "Alright, Hakkai! Now please wear this!" He hands out a T-shirt for the future model.

Hakkai puts it on and looks down at the logo, "What the hell is this?" The logo is of a cat's face inside a snowflake with the letter T on the left and a W on the right of it. 

Chifuyu stands proudly, "It's the Thousand Winters' Uniform!"

Hakkai sweatdrops, "So, We're going to wear this as we fight Kanto Manji Gang?"

"Yup! Isn't it cool? We really outdid ourselves this time!"

Takemichi looks proud at his gang coming together nicely, "Alright! That aside, We have a team of three!"

Hakkai chuckles, "I wouldn't get excited about a three-man team."

Chifuyu agrees, "Yeah! If we want a team that beats Kanto Manji, we need more people!"

Takemichi looks at the two, You guys got anyone else you can count on?"

The two men could not decide who to choose as their first teammate. Suddenly, as if the heavens have answered their prayers, the perfect man comes along.

"What up guys?" The three men turn to the owner of the voice.

"DRAKEN!"

"Why are you guys just standin' around for?"

Takemichi explains the situation to Draken and Draken messes with his hair, "Of course! I'll join. A lot is at stake nowadays. Especially since you are askin', Takemichi."

Chifuyu smiles, "Perfect! Here's a shirt! Welcome to the Thousand Winters'"

Draken looks at him in confusion, "Thousand Winters?" He looks at the shirt at tries, not the laugh, "This Logo is so La-" Draken looks up at Hakkai and Takemcihi standing behind Chifuyu, indicating not wanting to hurt his feelings. Both men were shaking their heads profusely as they use hand signs to make an X.

"LAVISH! This shirt is totally lavish!" Draken forces out and saves Chifuyu from heartache. Takemichi and Hakkai sigh in relief. Draken was able to avoid saying the shirts were lame.

Draken makes an excuse not to wear the ugly shirt, "I'm kinda sweaty right now, so I'll wear it when I shower. 

Draken turns serious, "If we are gonna do this, we need more manpower."

The next person they ask is Inupi who doesn't even think twice about giving his answer. 

Chifuyu smiles, "Alright then! Now that's settled with..." Chifuyu raises the TW gang uniform proudly, "From today on, Inupi is a member of the Thousand Winters. Please wear this!!"

There was a silent pause as the three other men in the TW gang tries to spare chifuyu's feelings. However, their efforts were in vain.

"PTU!" 

"AAAAAGH!" Chifuyu attempts to remove Inupi's spit from the shirt, "Why would you do this, Inupi?"

Inupi walks away with his hands in his pockets

"There's no way I'll wear something as lame as that."
