CHAPTER ONE:
Unfortunately : she will die▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
"HE'S GOING TO KILL ME," Cha Seong-eun concluded.
It was about six-fifty at night. The world around her was eerily quiet, so much so that Cha Seong-eun could hear her own breath. Every word that came out of her mouth sounded ridiculous, even to herself. Yet, try as she might, she can't find reasons to refute her eerie statement.
Her eyes glanced at the apartment window in front of her. It was covered with a white, silky, decorative curtain, but, even with it, she can see the light from inside.
The apartment complex she was in was not anything special. It was non-descriptive at best, but, considering her line of work right now, it was surprising how she could afford to live here.
Well, technically speaking, she wasn't the only one paying rent, it was her boyfriend, Park Yujin. He offered to pay about seventy percent of the recent so, quote unquote, she can feel less burdened. How could she have managed to have such a wonderful boyfriend? And, how did he even fall for her in the first place?
The last question lingered in her head. Indeed, why did he fall for her? Cha Seong-eun, personality wise, was extremely boring.
She was also barely attractive. And that was more prominent whenever she stood beside him. Long brown hair with ends roughly cut and tanned skin. Her features can be considered fine, but, in a bustling cosmopolitan city that she lives in, she could barely be considered a rare beauty.
But Cha Seong-eun did have one attention drawing feature; her eyes. It was upturned and was slightly large, and against her brown colored skin, it stood out greatly. Warm burnt amber eyes that when in the dark, her eyes were akin to a cat. Her mother had described it as 'the same hue as Hephaestus' welded sword'— she was sure her mother was being dramatic.
Cha Seong-eun sighed, all of this thought about her looks and her self deprecating attitude was making her weary— and especially that sinister gut feeling she was stirring over. She had a gut feeling that he was going to kill her, as if she herself had seen it with her own eyes. And the fact that she seemed assured with it despite the lack of evidence was scary.
( Why would he be forced to kill her? Why did she think he was going to be forced to kill her? Where did she get that idea from? Why was she so sure about it? Whywhywhywhy—
She cut her thoughts off. The word why harrowed her mind, but she ignored it. )
Or perhaps— maybe, just maybe, she was being delusional, that she was spiraling, again— it wouldn't be far off really— but her firm belief did not waver in the slightest.
( That's what a delusional person would say, her thoughts taunted her, laughing. )
Masking her inner turmoil, Cha Seong-eun readied herself. Whatever happens tonight happens— all she would do is to ready herself when it all comes to worst.
Knocking on the door three times, she heard a brief shuffling from the inside before a soft 'click' resounded from the inside. The door swung open, revealing a rather tall man. Golden blonde hair akin to spun gold, his viridian hued eyes met hers as it slightly crinkled, both cheeks lifting up into a warm smile.
"Welcome home, darling." He says sweetly, as if his voice was coated in honey.
Ah, how could she have accused him of something irrational? Park Yujin would never hurt me, she thought, doing a complete one-eighty as she saw her lover's face. "I'm home." Was her bare minimum response. Yet, it held so much warmth she usually wouldn't have. She took off her shoes upon entering the foreign place she now called a home, placing it on the neatly lined shoe-rack— just as she liked— and placed her bag near the wall.
