CHAPTER FOUR:
A confusing oxymoron▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
PARK YUJIN WAS DEAD.
He was a man who loved his own mother, so much so that he was willing to kill his own lover— that he apparently loved too, but, if he were to choose between them, his answer would be obvious as to who it is— just to see his mother.
His decisions and actions were quite troublesome, to put it lightly.
He was stabbed mercilessly in his stomach six times with a knife coated in poison. While some might empathize and sympathize with him, or even hoped for him to win, the outcome was still clear; Park Yujin was dead, Cha Seong-eun was alive.
And if he deserved to go out in such a way, it was something Cha Seong-eun had not decided yet. The thought lingered on her mind, the question of what-if's and maybe echoed her head, mercilessly grabbing her attention and made her feel the imminent guilt slowly creep up from her fingertips. It was heavy, like a cloth drenched in blood.
But it stopped halfway from her hands. It felt as if she dunked her hand on fresh, cold water. It washed away the after image of blood from her hands.
But not the scent. Never the scent. The people and rust entered her nose, then slowly crept down to her throat, effectively dislodging it. To at least lessen it, she gritted her teeth, breathing through her mouth instead. The air tasted stale and metallic.
At least it was dull, like a phantom headache that was present on her head. Cha Seong-eun could handle the taste. The smell had made her want to puke everything out. She pushed down the bile that threatened to escape her throat and took a deep, shaky breath. She was strong— she wouldn't let someone, especially a man, make her feel weak.
[ Oh, you're finally awake. ] The floating creature says, voice in a faux deep tone as if imitating a man, it's beady eyes staring at her blank ones. It briefly crossed into her mind that it must've been some kind of reference from some video game, but her mind was in a deep state of emptiness, unable to process anything, but able to think of everything, all at once. It was akin to a black hole.
Silence echoed into the room as Cha Seong-eun only stared at the ceiling, not acknowledging the strange little creature. What all was she supposed to do after all? She didn't know— she hasn't been in this situation. She suppose she could ask the same question to the people who murdered their own lovers or their loved ones.
[ Eh? You're ignoring me? That's rude! ] It blabbered on, squeaky voice chattering as its noise filled the room. Yet, Cha Seong-eun just stared ahead. She liked the quiet, but now, she preferred to hear the creatures endless chittering. It's an annoying sound that grated her ears but at least it blocked out his voice.
"What I said was partially true—"
Shut up.
"I really did love you—"
Shut up.
"Please reach a happy—"
"Shut up." She says harshly. Her voice was coated in poison and venom, acid dripping from it as it burned the floor. She covered her ears, as if it would make everything go away.
But her mind was relentless, merciless. Like a whirlwind in the middle of a town. She swore she could hear its mocking laugh as it destroyed everything in its way.
She can see the phantom traces of blood on her hands, and the splatters of blood painting the wall. Cha Seong-eun regretted not agreeing to Yujin's suggestion to paint the wall red. Maybe it could have saved her as she slowly and surely spiralled into insanity. Some were drying up yet some were still slowly dripping.
