Chapter Seven - The Game

y/n's POV
I get to the locker room and put on my jersey but I hear coach call my name.
"y/n come here!" Coach Jill says.
"Yes coach." I ask confused.
"Lauren got hurt last minute and she can't play. I need you in goal." She says.
"Coach I haven't played goalie in YEARS." I say.
"You got it." She says patting my back and handing me goalie gloves and a goalie jersey with my number on the back. I sigh and head out of the locker room slipping on the jersey. I grab my extra jersey for Hailee. I spot her in the UCLA seats and I hand her the jersey. She has on the white nike hat she gave me the other day and RayBans. She smiles when she sees me.
"Hi baby." I say handing her the jersey and she puts it on.
"Hey princess, playing goalie today." She says.
"Yea but I don't want to." I say pouting.
"Hey y/n let's warm up!" Anna shouts at me standing there with Kai.
"Coming Boon! Bye Hailz." I say running to the goal. I do some quick stretches and a warmup. Boon, Gia and Kai just get me ready bye throwing balls at me and surprisingly I was doing really good with the corner saves and dives.
The whole teams starts practicing shooting and I save almost all of the shots except for one from Boon. Coach tells us to continue ladder and shuttle drills for a couple more minutes. She hands me the captains armband and I put it on. I jog to the goal and get ready for the game. I give Gia a fist bump.
"Good luck y/n have fun in goal." Gia says.
"You better stop all of them." I say.
I take out my ponytail and put my hair up in a bun. I hear the whistle blow and I focus on the game. UCLA maintains possession and within the first couple of minutes of the game Kai has a shot on goal but it hits the post. At the twenty seventh minute Kai passes the ball to Anna and she shoots with her left into the top right corner of the goal. It slips past the gloves of the USC goalie and hits the back of the net. I yell in excitement. Anna's first collegiate soccer goal, I run to her meeting her in the middle of the field and give her a big hug, I pick her up and spin her around in a circle. I give her a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Good job little one." I say before running back to the goal.
USC comes back with vengeance, a shot to the bottom left and I dive and block it with ease in the forty second minute. I drop kick the ball up the field and Kai receives the ball and reaches the box. She dribbles past one defender with ease and then gets slid tackled from behind taking out her legs. The referee signals for a penalty. Coach yells at me to go take the kick. I get to the penalty spot and Kai hands me the ball. I set it down on the spot and take a deep breath.
"The fuck is the goalie doing taking the penalty." One of the USC forwards says.
"Well that keeper is a forward and is the biggest prospect for professional soccer from college. Show some respect." Gia deadpans.
"I never miss by the way." I say. I take a couple steps back and take another deep breath before running forward and striking the ball into the upper right hand corner of the goal. The goalie had no chance of stopping that ball. It hits the back of the net and my entire team runs to me and gives me a big hug.
"Fuck yea 2-0! Let's keep going." Coach Jill yells.
In the forty fifth minute the USC forward runs through the box dodging all the defenders. I get ready for the shot and she kicks it straight at me. I catch it with ease. She keeps running and runs into me tackling me causing me to stumble into the post of the goal hitting my back.
"Jesus that was uncalled for!" I said and the USC player just smirks at me.
"Ref come on!" one of the UCLA defenders yells. The referee pulls out a yellow card and we go to half time. I immediately walk towards Hailee. I smile at her but she doesn't smile back.
"Hey angel!" I say smiling.
"Hi." She says dryly.
"What's wrong? Did I do something wrong?" I ask confused.
"You kissed that girl." She says.
"Oh Haiz, you're jealous!" I say pointing at Hailee.
"Am not!" She says crossing her arms.
"Whatever you say baby." I say leaning in and kissing her lips. "You have nothing to worry about, Anna is a friend she's like a sister to me."
"Okay princess I trust you. However that girl from USC, I'm going to kill her for pushing you like that." She says.
"I'm okay sweetheart I promise." I say smiling at her.
"I think the goal suits you." She says.
"I miss playing forward though." I say pouting.
"y/n come here!" Coach Jill yells.
"Okay bye baby." I say giving her one last kiss before going. I walk over to coach slightly confused as she's standing with the USWNT coach and the coach of Angel City FC.
"y/n this is Coach Vlatko and Coach Freya." Coach Jill says.
"Hello nice to meet you both it's an honor." I say shaking both their hands.
"So I am going to get straight to the point, I want you at Angel City as a goalkeeper." Freya says.
"I hope you know I don't normally play that position." I say.
"Hey you're a natural at it." Freya says.
"Okay I will join the team." I say with no hesitation.
"Nice we will start drafting up your contract at 100 thousand." Freya says and I simply nod. " I look forward to seeing your chemistry with the team we actually acquired Kai and some USWNT players. Tobin Heath, Emily Sonnett and Kelly O'Hara."
"I look forward to playing with them and of course Christen Press." I say with a smile.
"Nice talking to you!" Freya says shaking my hand again before walking away.
"Okay my turn, I am calling you up to play for the USWNT, as a forward. I need new talent since Rapinoe and Llyod are retiring. You will be up front with Press, Morgan and Heath. You will also be working with Rodman, Sanchez and Pugh. For the rest of the team you will see Lavelle, both Mewises, Sonnett, O'Hara, Fox, Naeher, Sauerbrunn and Dalkhemper." Vlatko says.
"I look forward to training with them!" I say.
"I will send more details about camp. Nice to meet you." He says before leaving.
"Congrats y/n. Let's go finish this game." Coach Jill says.
The second half is no different than the first. I stop all the shots and Kai scores a goal and Anna heads the ball into the goal scoring her second goal. We end winning UCLA 4 USC 0. The whole team decides to go out and celebrate, we decide on fancy team dinner later in the evening.
"Ok girls I expect to see nice clothing, absolutely no sweatpants, sweatshirts, and no sneakers." Coach says making me groan at no sneakers.
"You are allowed to bring your significant others, dress code is suits or appropriate dresses."
I decide to take a picture with Kai, Gia and Anna in our uniforms before we all go home to get ready. We all start to leave and I find Hailee waiting for me at my truck.
"Hey angel! Want to accompany me to team dinner?" I ask quietly.
"Sure sweetheart, good job today, you looked really hot in the goal." She said making me blush.
"I am going to drop you off at your house so you can get ready okay." I say.
"Can we color coordinate baby." Hailee asks.
"Yea I am going to wear a white button up with my navy blue suit. Probably brown dress shoes." I say tapping my chin.
"Okay baby I will wear a white dress!" She says excitedly making me smile.
I drop Hailee off at her house and head home. I decide to post the pictures I took with my teammates earlier, I tag all three of them. I shower quickly and get dressed. I slip on a pair of boxers and my navy dress pants. They were slim and made my ass look amazing. I decide on a black belt and black dress shoes. I start buttoning my white button up and I tuck in my shirt. I throw my hair up into a messy bun and put on light makeup. I slip on my suit jacket. I put on my rings and spray on some of my favorite cologne. I grab my RayBan Clubmasters and head out of my apartment. I call Hailee and she picks up immediately.
"Hey angel I am on my way." I say.
"Okay baby I am ready I will be waiting for you outside my house. I think we should take my Audi." She says.
"Whatever you say sweetheart!" I say.
"I think you'd look handsome driving it." She says. I laugh and so does she.
"See you soon my love." I say.
"Bye babe." She says and I hang up.
My phone rings and I see Anna's name.
"Y/N HELP I INVITED AG TO DINNER." Anna yells.
"Calm down. Good job asking her out." I say.
"I don't know what to wear." She says.
"Well what is she wearing?" I ask.
"A black button up and grey plaid dress pants."
"I say a skin tight black dress, you'd look hot." I say.
"Okay thanks y/nn." She says laughing at the new nickname.
"Oh hell no, you cannot call me that." I say.
"Too late." She says.
"Fine but only you can call me that." I say huffing.
"Bye y/nn." She says.
"Bye Boon." I say.
I pull into Hailee's driveway and she's standing there with the keys to her Audi. I step out of my truck locking it.
"Damn princess! You look handsome." Hailee says smiling.
"You look stunning Haiz. I am so lucky." I say she tosses me the keys and I open the door for her. I kiss her hand as I help her into her seat. I jog over to the drivers side and get in and start her car. The engine revs and I smile.
"I love sports cars especially Audis I really want a Porsche Mission E but I think I'm going to buy a Ducati first." I say.
"I don't know, I don't want you to get hurt in a motorcycle accident babe." Hailee says concerned.
"I will be safe." I say looking at her. We get to the fancy restaurant in downtown LA. I help Hailee out of the car and hand the keys to the valet. We walk into the restaurant hand in hand and head to the big dinner table the team reserved.
"Hey y/n." Olivia says smiling at me while Kai has her arms wrapped around her.
"Hey Liv how's modeling going?" I ask.
"Oh it's great! I have swim week tomorrow I am so excited." She says.
"Woah I have that tomorrow too! I'm Hailee by the way." Haiz says.
"y/n's girlfriend is THE Hailee Steinfeld!" Kai says.
"Yes she's mine back off!" I say wrapping my arms around her.
"How did you guys meet?" Liv asks.
"Oh I ran into her while on my run." I say.
"How romantic." Anna says walking up to our group hand in hand with AG.
"Hey AG." I say.
"What's up y/n." AG says.
"Nothing much, just enjoying life with my girl." I say kissing Hailee's cheek.
"Hey y/n wanna watch our wifeys at swim week tomorrow?" Kai asks.
"Of course." I say.
"y/n can I talk to you and Kai in private." AG says.
"Uh sure." We say confused.
We walk away from the group.
"So I wanna ask Anna to be my girlfriend." AG says nervously struggling to look up but she was a 5'11 girl.
"I approve, she's head over heels about you. Wife her up. Just know if you break her heart I break you." I say.
"Yeah gotcha." She says smiling.
"Oh watch out for her ex Jersey." Kai says. "You might need to beat her up."
"I will handle her, she's got nothing on me." AG says. "Should I ask now?"
"Go for it dude." Kai says.
We walk back to our small group who's now sitting at the table. I sit next to Hailee and Anna who's sitting next to AG. Liv is next to Hailee and Kai is on her left. Across from us is Gia and her boyfriend. She's one of the only straight players on the team. We all chat and end up laughing at funny game stories. The food comes and we all eat. I get water while Hailee drinks a Long Island Iced Tea. AG asked Anna to be her girlfriend and we all cheer when Anna says yes. Team dinner comes to an end after dessert and lots of laughs. I drive Hailee back to her house and she's been none stop giggling. We walk into her house and she trips on her feet. I catch her easily.
"Beautiful you had one too many drinks." I say smiling at her. She returns the smile with a dopey grin.
"I did not." She says.
"Let's go get you comfortable." I say walking her to her room. She starts getting out of her dress leaving her in just her underwear and bra. She starts removing that leaving her naked. I admire her body but I go to her bathroom to get stuff to wipe her makeup off. Hailee has on one of my shirts and she's laying in bed. I walk over and wipe the makeup off her face. I go back to the bathroom and wash my face. When I get back to the room she's half asleep.
"Bye baby I will see you tomorrow." I say.
"Nooooo don't leave." She says whining. I stay and start taking off my clothes, I end up in my boxers and sports bra. I get into the bed and snuggle up next to Hailee in the covers. I see a notification from Anna. She sent me a picture of Hailee and I when I was standing behind Hailee with my arms wrapped around her waist and my chin resting on her shoulder. Hailee was leaning back into my embrace and we were both smiling. I smile at the picture and set it as my wallpaper. I roll over and wrap my arms around Hailee and pull her close. I'm falling for this girl which is something I would have never thought I'd do again.
