I'm not sure where the change of heart came from between the bassist and the actress. After all, they fought every time they were in the same room together. Maybe it was just a front. Maybe the affair began before we thought. Maybe she loved Nikki way before she thought she loved Tommy. It was a secret that would die with Brandi.

Nikki began buttoning his shirt. "So when ya gonna tell him, blondie?"

"What are you talking about? There's nothing to tell. This is the last time." Brandi struggled to latch her bra from behind as Nikki inched across the bed on his knees to help. He left a trail of his lips from her neck to her shoulders, making her skin chill. "You said that last week."

"Yeah well, I mean it this week."

Months had passed, leaving Tommy and Brandi, and Nikki, inseparable. When she wasn't with Tommy, she was sneaking through back doors to Nikki's house. Her relationship with the drummer was all over the tabloids, leaving her career in the toilet. No one wanted to associate themselves with someone so close to such devils. The media never took the time to see them for who they really were. Only for what they portrayed themselves as.

Nikki pulled Brandi back to the California king, silk sheets tangling around her bare stomach and thighs. "Y'know, we could tell him together? I just feel so-"

"Look, Brandi. I was just messing with you. Tommy's my best friend and I like you and all but I'm not trying to fuck that up."

"You like me and all? That's it? That's all you have to say?"

"I mean, what did you think? We'd tell Tommy and then we'd be one big happy fucking family? Get it through your skull, Brandi. It'll never happen." Nikki poked a finger against her forehead. Brandi gazed as he rose to his feet, buckling his belt. He flung his head back, removing those pesky bangs from his blue seas. She followed him down the hall where he put his jacket on and began lacing his boots. "I'll call you tonight though." Nikki lifted her chin, rubbing his thumb over her lips before sealing them with a wet kiss. Brandi only slightly nodded, drained from all of this toying around. "Don't. Don't look at me like that. You knew what this was, Brandi." Nikki sighed, resting his hands at his sides. "I'll call you tonight, baby. I promise. But I gotta go, I have to meet the guys. Just go out the back door, okay?"

Baby. It was such a generic nickname. When he wasn't calling her Blondie, it was the only other thing he could think of.  "Okay." She turned down the hallway, leaving Nikki to watch her shadow disappear as she grabbed her clothes. She straightened her hair into a ponytail, entering the driver side of the car.

"We'll that was a longer visit than usual." Jess sat patiently at the dinning table with a cup of coffee. The smell of toast filled the air, making her nauseous. A night of partying with Nikki was enough to do that to you. "Yeah, I guess."

"With who?"
Brandi looked up over battered lashes to her friend. "Right, the asshole. Look at your eyes, B." Jess grabbed her by the chin, looking into her eyes. "You look like shit, what does he have you doing over there?" Her body was frail, she hardly ever ate a full meal anymore.

"He's not an asshole. And we're not doing anything, Jess." Brandi closed the door to the fridge after grabbing an orange juice to go. "He's smart, and he's sweet. And he listens to me, he really cares about what I'm talking about."

"I must only get the bad parts then, right? I mean, c'mon, what about Tommy?"

"Tommy- he's- Well he's Tommy, y'know? I mean he's sweet but he's-"

"Good for you? Not going to kill you?"

"Stop. I didn't come here to be lectured. This is my fucking house, Jess. And if you don't like it-"
