Germany-1941
~

Y/N have been walking forever, and their legs were giving up on them. They groan as they sit against a tree to relax for a bit. Taking the chance of looking around their surroundings.

They could camp here for a while before heading back on the path again. After relaxing for a while, they gathered sticks and leaves, making a shelter and a fireplace. Y/N remembered watching some YouTube videos on how to start a fire.... after having the urge to set their workplace on fire. Soon enough, the fireplace was lit and warm enough for Y/N.

It took a while for the soldier to fall asleep due to how hard the ground was. He should've moved the sticks and rocks before laying down.

Snoring softly and ignoring the soft ray of the sun slowly coming up, Y/N was curled up beside the burnt-out fireplace.

Suddenly, they felt someone poking them, they groan and slowly opened their eyes to see... kids?

"Hi?"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!" The kids screamed, running behind a tree and staying there for a bit before poking their heads out.

"H-Hey! I'm no threat!" They said, raising their hands as they stared at the kids. The two kids stared at the soldier with their heads tilted... oh, right, you were speaking Russian. It's time to switch to German gear.

Clearing their throat, Y/N said the same thing but in German, which calmed the kids a bit.

"What are you two doing out here..?" Y/N calmly ask, being careful with what they say.

An older child gently walks from behind the tree while their younger sibling hid behind them. "We were just playing around here.. until we found you, we thought you were dead." He said, fiddling with his small fingers.

"Well, I'm not dead. I'm glad that you two were concerned about me." The soldier smiled, gently getting up from the ground and brushing off dirt and leaves from their uniform.

"Now, is there a village nearby?" They ask, looking down at the kids.

"Ja! Our Opa could take you in! C'mon!" The older boy said, grabbing his little sister's hand and running off with her. The soldier followed after them, smiling more at the kids.

As they walked into the village, they were worried about the villagers arresting them due to Y/N being a Russian. But even though they stared at the soldier, luckily they went about their day like it was no big deal.

It surprised them. They stood still for a bit. They were confused that they weren't in trouble due to the war going on. Y/N was snapped out of their thoughts when they felt a small tug on their sleeve, they look down to see the little girl.

"Are you still coming?" She softly asks.

"Right, sorry, just enjoy the view of your village." Y/N softly smiled, following the kids again. The three of them soon made it to a small old house.

The kids knock on the door, and it then opens and shows an older German fellow.... he looks familiar.

"Oh, hello Felix and Maria! Oh! And who's this?" The old man gently asks with a small smile.

"Oh, I'm Y/N, I was hoping I could stay here a bit." Y/N nervously asks.

"Ohh, running from our army?" He asked again.

"...Well yeah -"

"Come in! I'll bring you some cookies and lemonade." The old man then goes inside with the kids behind him. Y/N was again surprised, but they went inside.

Y/N looked around while the kids took the soldier and had them sit down. The soldier saw a picture of two four soldiers. It suddenly dawned on them.

This house is Gunther's. These are his grandkids.

"Here we go. Enjoy your stay, dear." Gunther came back with cookies while Maria came with lemonade.

"Thank you... sir."

"Please, call me Gunther."
