Germany-1915

Berlin looks up from his book and spotted the lieutenant at the door frame of the dining room. He gave them a soft smile, and he pats a spot next to him.

Y/N went to sit beside him, and they lay their head on his shoulder. They read what the capital was reading he seems to be reading Edgar Allan Poe which was translated into German, and which poem? The Raven.

"That's a good poem," Y/N whispered. They heard Berlin hums, and he puffed out smoke.

"German Empire loves Gothic Literature, I think he read The Yellow Wallpaper at least 5 times." Berlin quietly chuckles a bit. He goes back to reading, and it made Y/N think.

"I don't think I ever heard of that poem." Y/N hums, it made Berlin gasp but in a quiet way to not wake up the children. Berlin got up and went over to the bookshelf where he took out a book. He then hands it to Y/N.

"Read it, Reich says it gives him shivers." Berlin smiled.

"Sounds like what people would say about romance novels." Y/N joked as they started reading the poem.

"Yes, well, Gothic literature is German Empire's romance." Berlin chuckles again. He enjoys chatting with Y/N it reminds him of another person he used to get along with.

The sound of birds singing and the aroma of food was what made Y/N's eyes flutter open, they felt pair of small arms around them and see that Weimar and Dritte were cuddling Y/N in their sleep.

Y/N saw that Austria-Hungary was sitting near the fireplace. He was just looking at it, probably thinking, which meant Berlin was cooking breakfast again.

"Psst Austria-Hungary, help me please," Y/N whispered to the empire, which did grab his attention.

"Are the kids hugging you like a teddy bear?" Austria-Hungary asked as a smile tugged his lips. He got up and helped the lieutenant get the kids off carefully without waking them, which was tough due to them accidentally waking up Weimar.

Y/N stretched their arms, and thank Austria-Hungary, the empire sat back down and stared at the fire. Dritte's head was laying on the lieutenant's lap while Weimar sleepily leaned on Y/N's arm, he yawns a bit and snuggled against the warmth of the lieutenant

"Are you heading back to Vienna today?" Y/N asked. They wrap their arm around Weimar so he could go back to sleep with his brother.

"I suppose so, I have to deal with Russia and Serbia." Austria-Hungary sighed, he leans on his hand and glared at the fire.

"I'm glad I have Deutschland to help me though. His father was a pain, but the past is the past." He chuckles a bit.

"What happened with you and Prussia?" Y/N questioned, they tilted their head in curiosity.

"It was 1866, and Prussia and I well, ya know, war. Short version I lost, yes I know I got my ass beaten by Prussia." Austria-Hungary mocked. He groans at the thought of the Prussian. "He later went into war against France, which he also won, which then later the German States United to make well, Deutschland."

"How long was your war?"

"...seven weeks..."

Y/N paused and stared at the empire who was blushing in embarrassment. Y/N decided not to say anything so as not to upset the empire. Later on, Berlin came into the living room and set the warm breakfast down on the coffee table.

"Weimar, Dritte, wake up breakfast is here." Berlin softly sang the boy's groan, and they flutter their eyes open.

"Guten Morgen, Berlin..." Dritte yawns, he still had his head on Y/N's lap while his brother was on the lieutenant's chest. Y/N was being used as a pillow, which Berlin found cute.

"C'mon boys get L/N some break and eat. I'm sure they'll be excited to see your Vater!" That caught the kid's attention, the mention of their father made them get off the couch and quickly over to their breakfast.

Austria-Hungary laughs at the kid's reaction, he knew the boys love their father and want to see him once again, though the dual monarch wouldn't be here to witness the wholesome reunion.

"Wait, Reich is coming back here?" Y/N asked with a surprised tone.

"Oh right, I guess I haven't told you yet! I received a note earlier from the German Empire saying that he's coming home early today!" Berlin cheered. It made Y/N smile.

Y/N made sure their uniform was perfect. They looked at the mirror and sighed. They get to see Reich again after a while of being separated from him. It makes their heart flutter.

"Happy you get to see Deutschland?" Austria-Hungary asked, which made Y/N jump.

"Austria-Hungary! Warn me next time!" Y/N yelled. They went over and playfully punched the dual monarch's shoulder, which made him laugh.

"Alright, alright! I just came here to say goodbye."

"Why do you want to say goodbye to me?" Y/N questioned. They nervously rub the back of their neck and chuckle.

"I'm not sure, but I guess it's because I like you. Anyways I'll see you later, maybe in the next meeting if Deutschland takes you with him again." He responded. He kissed the soldier's hand and later left.

Y/N smiled softly. They felt better from when they were in 1794-1806. They look down at the note Berlin has given them. They read through Reich's handwriting and sighed.

'Great news, Berlin! I'm coming home early. The war has been tough, but luckily, I'll be back at the mansion tomorrow! I hope my sons are well and that Y/N is comfortable and not stressed any more than they were the last time.

I trust that Austria-Hungary has gotten his papers and that the mansion is well and neat. See you soon.

~Sincerely, the German Empire."

Y/N folded the paper and put it in their pocket. They stared out the window and waited to see horses pulling a carriage towards the mansion.
