Mya, Leah, Brian and I made our way through the forest. My leg was alot better. I had practiced walking on it until I finally got the hang of it. It was a steady pace, not too fast. We all came to many clearings, but there was no sign of Oliver. We keep clearing the forest of trees at the bottom of the mountain before we came to the conclusion that we were going to climb it. It looked about a couple hours climb. It wasn't too tall. Just freakin' wide. Very wide. Huge. We started up the mountain. Leah kept complaining about the snakes, so Brian gave her a piggy-back ride the way up. He'd probably get tired after a while, and I wondered if it hurt his back. Stupid thoughts. I just needed to stay focused. I was going to hack the blonde into little pieces and-- well, you know the rest. I endured Leah's babbling, Mya's quietness and Brian trying to convince Leah of no snakes for the couple hours. I was silent like Mya.
"Hey." I spoke, spotting the top of the mountain up ahead. I ran to it. I bent over, looking to the other side of the mountain. I quickly stepped back, falling on my tail bone. I closed my eyes. The moutain was only filled in half. Meaning half was trees leading up to the top, than the other is over a hundred-foot drop. Did I mention my fear of heights?'No?
"Great." I whispered, refusing to open my eyes. Brian set Leah down and caught up. Whenever there was a tall building in an arena, Brian would snipe from it. Me? Rather be caught dead. He placed a hand on my shoulder.
"You can open your eyes." She spoke.
I shook my head like a kid not wanting to eat their vegtables. In this case, I really didn't want to eat my vegtables and succumb to a over-hundred-food-drop. Well, unless it's broccoli. Broccoli is delicious. Brian exhaled noticably. I couldn't tell if he was worried or pissed off. Maybe the bruise from Oliver was hurting. Brian picked me. I shouted at him to put me down, even though I was clinging to him for dear life. I felt like I was going to throw up. Heights really bother me if you haven't noticed yet. He started off the opposite way of, walking along he edge of the tbe moutain, where the drop was. Instead of going toward the mountain, we were now going to the left of the mountain. I thought we'd lost all hope done all this for nothing, but we had Brian. Maybe he wasn't that stupid. After maybe half an hour, we came in an odd place. In the middle of the forest, there was a small house made out of dark wood. It looked like one of those horror movies where you chant 'don't go in, don't go in', then the characters goes in. It was creepy and in the middle of, the forest. It started to get darkedarker. The sun began to set. The sky was beautiful. Brian was still carrying me in his arms. I didn't care about the heights anymore, but I enjoyed being carried. I looked at it over Brian's shoulder. Being this high, I could see it clearly over the trees. I tapped Brian's shoulder.
"Put me down." I whispered into his ear. I felt him shiver and watched his face flush. I remembered him telling Leah a week ago about his sensitive neck. Apparently his ears were too. He set me down to stand and I watched the sunset. Leah and Mya walked towards thr house, but I didnt notice. I folded my arms, just watching the sunset move in tiny little frames, the sun gradually making it's way down.
"Go with Leah and Mya." I instructed him, exhaling softly. "Just in case." I added. He didn't respond and stayed there. Mya had continued to the house, but Leah watched me and Brian from afar. When I saw he wasn't going to buge, I didn't blame him. There was nothing like this back home. There were no sunsets, no blue sky. A green sky, if that counts. Hell, there were no trees. It was so foriegn to us all. A part of me felt it was a shame to leave. Sometime's I still wondered why the world wrecked this beautiful place. I read about greed, money and such. But without this all, it seems hardly worth it.
"Alice."
I snapped out of my thoughts, still loking to the sky. The sun was almost down. "What?" I spoke quietly.
"Alice." He repeated, taking hold of my wrist. I turned to him, planning to start one of my lectures about touching me. But hell, was he ever going to get a big one after this. And trust me, he did.
"What do you-" my eyebrows furrowed. Before I could finished, he used his other hand to cup my cheek and captured my lips softly with his own. I felt my face burn. Literally burn. I'm sure it was red. I tried to pull my wrist back, but he wasn't finished, pressing closer to me. He was a foot taller than me, so he had to ean over. Made it much easier to break his neck in thi s position, honestly. I suddenly heard Leah's cackle and Brian stopped. He pulled away. I just stared at him, readying to implode.
"I'm, uh..-" I stuttered, pointing towards the cabin where Mya went. I yanked my wrist away and started in the other direction. Stupid sunset. Stupid Brian. That was disgusting. Do you know how many germs are in the human mouth? Although, now I think I know why it's worth it. Leah was wheezing out of breath, dropping to her knees. She was still laughing. I cringed, making my way past her. I'd deal with her later. She'd watched the whole thing. I looking over my shoulder to him. He just stood there, smiling like an idiot. And the best part, he was staring at me. I swear, I was going to prison for murder. Just wait. Ugh. I diverted my attention from him, although it was almost impossible, and headed towards the cabin.
