"Oh my god Steve why do we have to go to this stupid thing anyways,it's not like it will be any fun,"Robin complained from the passenger seat in the car, applying black pencil eyeliner to the bottom of her eyes.Steve groaned in response.
"Look,it might not be any fun for you but the dingus sitting right here is going to prom with hottest girl in Hawkins, hear that?Hottest girl in Hawkins."

Robin didn't even care about Steve's stupid "girlfriend" ,who she knew he'd have sex with for a week and then dump, yet she almost gagged at the word 'prom'.It was sickening her to the absolute core and she didn't know how she was about go a night in a room filled with stupid teenagers that smelled of sweat and did nothing but make out.Speaking of making out and just, relationships in general, the girl was still as single as ever.

After having her heart-sort of-broken by Vickie, someone she had a huge crush on whilst playing in band together, she'd decided that dating and love would just never come to her.Feelings we're too difficult to manage, just as difficult as her consistant rambling, which she was currently demonstrating as she spewed words at her best friend.

"You know what,I hope you have fun because you definitely will, and I also hope that by the end of the night you'll be prom king or whatever.Oh and whilst we're on the topic of prom king and what-not,I bet that you're little prissy ex girlfriend will be prom queen so you know, you still have a chance to be her "king","she rambled although saying the last bit extremely mockingly.

"Well I won't deny that Nancy probably will be prom queen but me and Nancy getting back together?Pshh,I wish but she's caught up with that Jonothan dude,"Steve rolled his eyes as he spoke Nancy's boyfriends name out loud.He still had somewhat feelings for the princess of Hawkins High, but that didn't mean he'd go and ruin a perfectly fine relationship.

"Anyways look,we're here and I am sorry that you don't have a girl to go to prom with, just try to enjoy yourself even if that means dancing on your own, eating all the snacks or getting so sugar high on punch that you can barely stand up by yourself, okay?"

"Sure, dingus,"the tall girl replied as her and Steve walked towards the separate building in which everything was being held in.

The second they opened the huge wooden doors, hot, sticky air hit them like a pile of bricks, taking them by absolute surprise. It was obvious that the temperature at this dumb gathering would be a lot higher than normal, but for it to feel like the Amazon Rainforest, everything clammy and warm, was just not normal.

"Okay is this a good time to run out and die?"Robin whisper screamed, pulling her dark blonde hair down over her face.

"I guess, but I need to go,I can see my date over there,"Steve pointed to a girl of medium height with curly brown her spilling over her lace covered shoulder,"just remember,do anything to have fun."

Do anything to have fun, huh.Robin thought to herself, still standing awkwardly in the doorway with her hands deeply shoved in her suit pockets.Well if I want to have any fun then I guess standing here like a dumbass doesn't help, she thought again, walking over to an empty chair and sitting down on it right away.

For once she looked around the place properly and in all honestly it wasn't the ugliest building to spend her night in,even if she had no one to be with for the entirety of it.

Everything looked sort of like a midnight wonderland with silver streamers hanging down from the ceiling and shiny stars decorating it as well.Glittering lights covered the navy blue walls, without an exception for a huge disco ball in the middle of it all.White clothed tables stood every few meters apart from each other, red velvet cupcakes piling high on dark plates as bowls of punch stood to the side, bubbling curiously.

Robin went to pour herself a cup of that red liquid, spilling some over the side as it was quite too dark to see in the area she was in.Cautiously, she brought it up to her lips and drank it as the extremely sweet flavour overtook all her tastebuds and left a sugary film on her teeth.

"If that isn't toxic to humans then I don't know what is,"she mumbled to herself, wiping the remaining stuff from her lips with the back of her hand and setting the drink down.

Half an hour later and she was still doing nothing. She wasn't having any fun and the further into the party it got the less she wanted to have any anyways. The only joy and excitement she was getting was from watching couples argue in dimly lit places and leave each other, crying.

And although she absolutely loved invading on other peoples personal lives as nothing interesting was going on in hers, she had drank about 2 cokes before leaving for this and if she didn't get up she'd soon be the laughing stock of Hawkins. The toilets had bright white signs pointing to them,as if it wasn't obvious where they were from the amounts of laughter and chatter erupting from inside.

When she finally mustered the courage to go in,it amazed her that Nancy Wheeler wasn't hanging around with any of these other judgemental princesses. For some reason that girl just couldn't leave her mind. She had this huge fear approaching that something bad would happen to her tonight .Not that Robin cared, she'd probably only spoken a few words to Nancy despite her being Steve's ex.

Once she'd finally gotten out of the toilet and returned to her original seat, which seemed like it had sustained some spillage although it didn't bother her one bit,she went back to watching random people fight with each other.

Her foot began tapping out the rhythm of a song she was sure she had heard somewhere before, most likely on a drive to work with Steve. And somehow by listening to the music, which was at sometimes energetic and loud whilst at others slow and romantic, the couple hours just seemed to blur past.

Not only that but Robin had given in to an actual full two cups of the still mysterious red punch and a few cupcakes.Being on a sugar high indeed made things harder to do,such as standing up or actually concentrating on one thing at a time.

Although, when some old teacher, who Robin didn't recall at all, announced that they were going to reveal prom queen and prom king and everyone gathered in the centre of the hall, she couldn't help but walk over as well. She stared intently at the elderly lady, who was about to read out two names.Of course Robin already knew it wouldn't be her so she wasn't preparing for any disappointment.

A few minutes passed and the anticipation was getting to her yet the old hag was just dragging on and on as if there were so many things to talk about, when there really weren't.Finally she read out the two peoples names to which people gasped and shouted-some out of happiness whilst others were just angry it wasn't them.

But when Robin saw the 'prom queen' she thought she was going to pass out,so many questions running through her mind and it was too much to handle.
