The next morning came and went without the much anticipated phone call. Going about my day suddenly became a struggle as a single thought bounced around my head over and over. Did he change his mind? I pushed the thought as far down as I could in an attempt to ease the anxiety I knew it could cause, attempting to shake off the pre- talk show jitters that were already making my head spin. A soft knock was heard, the door to the backstage green room cracking open shortly after. A stage hand who had previously introduced herself as Michelle walked in, a small smile on her face.

"Hello again. If you'd please come with me Ms. Quinn, you're on next." She said softly.

"Please call me Rosaleen! Ms. Quinn sounds far too formal!" I replied with a soft laugh.

Michelle nodded, a timid smile over taking her features at my reply. I stood up from the couch I had been sitting on, quickly following the stage hand to my spot behind the curtain. My hands shook in front of me as I looked down at the small "x" on the floor signaling where to stand. The music started up as James Corden's voice rang through the set.

"Welcome back! Let's meet our guest tonight! She's staring in the new movie "Fresh", please welcome Rosaleen Quinn!" James exclaimed from the other side of the curtain.

The music intensified as the curtain pulled open, the sound of loud applause and cheers immediately filled my ears. A smile spread itself on my face as I walked past the curtain, hands immediately going up in front of me to send the small crowd on set a wave with both hands. I walked towards James, his hands extended out to help me up the three steps that led to the interview couch. We greeted each other with a hug and a polite kiss on the cheek before I sat on the couch right beside his desk chair. The music died down, the cheering and applause quieting soon after.

"Look at you! You've got to arguably be the best dressed guest on this couch in a very long time! I'm loving it, and bless you for coming to see us!" James spoke, arms waving around excitedly.

"Oh stop it! I'm sure you say that to everyone, thank you so much for having me!" I replied bashfully, a timid laugh tumbling from my lips.

"Now Rosaleen, last time you were on the show was two years ago! I was in my garage, you were on zoom and I'm so thrilled to have you here in person for the first time!" He said as I nodded at his comments. "Now when you look back at something like "Normal People" which was in 2020, when you look back on that time now, how was that for you?"

I laughed, a breathy sigh leaving my lips.

"I mean it was mad! I mean I think it- it was wild for everyone you know? I think it all feels like a surreal game of sims, like- we met on zoom and I remember just like shutting the computer afterwards and thinking "wait, did that actually just happen?" And It was just strange, the entirety of this pandemic has just been strange." I replied.
