*Kira's pov*

I knew this was going to happen.

I press my back farther into the bathroom door.

I fucking hate family parties.

I pull my phone out of my pocket.

I press Liam's name and hope to god he answers.

"Hi, Kira."

I sigh and reply.

"Li get me out of this fucking house."

I can hear Liam laugh.

"What happened?"

I pace up and down the bathroom.

"Ok, so you remember Lisa?"

He doesn't answer, mostly because I don't give him time to.

"She fucking asked me why me and Scott broke up. I was so fucking confused and I asked her why she cared. Then went on to talk about how she thought he was hot for 20 fucking minutes."

I stop to take a breath.

That wasn't even why I was mad.

"I'm not even mad about that but it was super uncomfortable. I literally said 'he has a boyfriend' and left."

Liam snickers into the phone.

He doesn't speak.

He knows I'm mad, so he doesn't say anything.

He just listens.

"Then my dad was talking to the small kids and they were like 'oh why do you and Kira not talk?' I just stood there and looked at them. And they started laughing."

I grip the sides of the counter.

"Rex then yelled at me for not getting food. After I told him so many times that I had already eaten. So I fucking yelled at him. Then my mom pulled me away and wanted to have a 'talking to.'"

I take a deep breath.

By the silence at the end of the call, you'd probably guess that Liam was dead.

After a second he speaks, "I'm outside."

I smile, "Thank you, Liam."

I hang up, opening the door.

If someone told me two years ago that I would be hanging out with Liam Dunbar.

I'd ask why.

I'd ask what took so long.

I'd just smile and nod.

The party had started back up.

Trying not to draw attention, I finally make it outside.

I see Liam, I open the door and sit down.

I lean my head back.

"Remind me to never come back to this house."

"Oh, I will."

I laugh and push his shoulder.

"You remember the last time?"

I don't make eye contact with him.

He continues.

"I was deadly scared after all the conversations we had about your family. But I didn't want you to go alone."

I smile and sit back as he continues.

"We stayed in the corner and just talked. It was probably the one night since the hunters came back that we really talked."
