*Malia's pov*

When I wake up, the clock read 5 pm.

I had indeed slept all day.

Well after staying up all night.

Getting kidnapped, then having a talk about feelings at 5 am, and maybe sort of making out with Kira.

I turn around to find the spot next to me empty.

"Kira?"

She opens the door.

Her eyes blink rapidly.

I can smell her fear.

"Kira?"

She opens her eyes.

Their dull, her face expressionless.

"Kira?"

I say for the third time.

I'm standing, walking closer to the door.

She looks past my shoulder.

Her face twists and I turn around.

There's nothing there.

"Kira!"

She closes her eyes and shakes her head.

She sways and grips the side of the doorframe.

"Malia?"

"Kira, what happened?"

Kira backs out of the room.

"You're supposed to wake up."

Maybe it was dumb to be overthinking in a dream?

But her eyes are bloodshot, and my hands hurt.

All I wanted to know was if she was ok.

But all the smells in the room intensified.

And the bitter smell of fear was the strongest.

The kind that makes you wanna throw up.

That makes bile rise up your throat.

That makes you hunch over in pain.

I don't move closer.

I stand in the doorway.

As the room sways around me.

Her face rippling, like waves.

"I'm supposed to wake up?"

And I know what's waiting for me.

It's her.

Smiling down at me probably, curled up next to me laughing.

Or maybe yelling my name, shaking me.

Maybe she's not even in the room, and left me to sleep.

"Mal!"

My eyes snap open.

The sudden urge to dig my claws into my skin, flares up.

I sit up, and Kira leans over me.

Worry was written all over her face.

I wonder what was the last time that she wasn't looking at me like that.

Maybe it was the night before or a couple of hours before.

How part of me wonders if that look is ever just going to leave.

The look on her face just makes her want to smother me until I yell 'I'm good! I'm fine!'

That look makes me want to die.
