"What did you do?"

Dream looks down at his hands, bringing them up to his face. He looks like he's hiding something. A smile? "Something that I shouldn't have. It was wrong and, I don't even know why I said that to her. It wasn't fair."

"What did you say, Dream?"

He doesn't move, keeping his face buried in his hands in shame. Or is it something else?

"Clay! Look at me! What the hell did you say to her?"

"Just leave it okay! It's already been said and done, she's gone and there's nothing we can do about it now. I'm sorry."

"Maybe there's nothing you can do about it. I'm going to get her back."

"Why? I thought this was what you wanted. For her to leave."

"Why would I want that? Are you out of your fucking mind?"

"You're the one who had the panic attack. Your doubts almost made her leave multiple times. You're the one who's talking to another girl! It's clear you've moved on and don't want her here."

"You are the one who actually made her leave! What the actual fuck did you say to her?"

Dream smirks. "That I'm the one who actually deserves her."

"What?" Sapnap says, in denial. He doesn't want to believe it's true. He doesn't want to believe that this is how his best friend, no-- his brother, is telling him that he's in love with his girl. He doesn't want to believe this is what he's telling him at ALL. "You're sick. How can you believe that?"

"Because it's true. All you've ever done is hurt her. I'm the one that put her back together. I did that."

"And you drove her away. Out of the house. Out of our lives. Where is she going to go? She doesn't know anyone here!"

"I don't know! I said what had to be said."

"You didn't have to say anything! You made it all worse. And we were making progress too before your DUMBASS decided to intervene and fuck everything up."

"What about my feelings? They just don't matter then?"

"Take your feelings elsewhere! She's mine. And will always be. Because I love her and you will never, and I mean it, EVER get to say that to her again. Got it?"

"You love her?" Dream softens.

"Yes, and I never stopped, so I need to go find her and tell her I want her back and that I'm sorry and I regret all of it."

"Go. Tell her all that."

"But you? What?"

Dream waves him off. "Don't worry about me. Go."

Sapnap listens without protesting and heads out the door.

As soon as he's out of earshot, Dream pulls out his phone.
