The beginning of the week has begun. All Rainey could think about while getting ready was getting picked on. He already knew what was coming especially because his bullies saw him at the fair. On the ride to school, he couldn't help but chatter his teeth. He shivered intensely.
Rachel thought he was cooled and said, "Turn the heated seat on. Your shivering like crazy."
Rainey had no choice but to play along. He puts the seat heater on and tried to control his shaking. They arrived at the school. Rainey opens the door and walks out.
Rachel says, "Have a good day. I love you"
Rainey replies, "I love you to mom"
He walks in to begin his day at school. He makes his way to the first period.
The announcements come on, "Good morning Jaguars! Hope everyone had a good weekend. Today we will be having a pep rally for the following sports, football, and volleyball. The pep rally will be during enhancement. See yall there!"
As the day continues the halls become noisier. Everyone is excited about the pep rally. It's the first one of the year and football is expected to go far this season. Rainey does not find interest in any of this. The recent bullying has led to him not finding interest in really anything. He also hates being in big groups of people.
Enhancement has arrived and all the students rush their way to the pep rally in the gym. Upon arrival Rainey searches for a seat. He just wants to find somewhere to sit and get this pep rally over with. He finally finds a place to sit. Before the pep rally starts he feels something smack him in the back of the head. In shock, he turns around and sees his three bullies behind him. They are a few rows away.
"You going to do something about it Faggot?" one of the bullies said.
Rainey just turns around as fast as possible and tries to ignore them. His body starts to shake intensely.
The bully Rylan says, "Zayne and Titus look at him. He looks like he's about to piss himself."
They all laugh at him. Rainey kept his head forward. Tears begin to pour down his face. He couldn't handle the bullying. As the pep rally went on paper balls would continue to hit Rainey. This lasted for thirty minutes. When the pep rally ended, Rainey rushed to his next class.
Zayne yells out, "Come back you fucking queer!"
Rainey just keeps on going to class. For the rest of the day, he is in severe anxiety. Time starts to move slowly for him. He stares at the clock in all his classes waiting for the day to be over.
The day finally comes to an end and he rushes to dismissal. The bus opens and Rainey rushes inside. He needs to get home as fast as possible. The bus ride was just him staring at the window waiting for his stop. Everything felt slow to him yet his heart was racing. He felt a sense of depersonalization. Nothing was real to Rainey, not time, people, even himself. He felt this sensation of his soul being separated from his body.
Rainey arrives home and rushes inside. As he is speed walking to the front door, someone on the bus is watching him closely. This person writes down in their notes Rainey's address. Rainey does not catch this since his back is turned.
Rainey is inside and finally feels safe again. He loads up his computer and connects his drawing pad. He draws for the rest of his day.
