Rain Rises On A Sunny Day

The door to Rainey's room starts to creak as Rayy opens in. Rachel comes in behind him with her camera. They both begin to chuckle before Rayy makes his move.

Suddenly Rayy shouts out, "WAKE UP, IT'S THE WEEKEND!"

Then he jumps on top of Rainey in bed. Rainey wakes up shaken but once he realizes what is happening he starts laughing. The whole family is laughing hysterically.

Rachel stops recording and announces, "This video is gold!"

After a bit of laughing, they make their way to the kitchen. Rachel and Ray begin cooking breakfast together. The duo looks amazing working together. Rayy gets the eggs and bacon. Rachel gets the Pancakes and Hashbrowns. As they cook Rainey blasts music. This is the only time Rainey can genuinely smile.

Breakfast is served and it has everyone at the table drooling. They couldn't contain their hunger. They dove right into their food. The pancakes are so soft, that it felt like biting into a cloud. The bacon cooked to perfection, not too soft but not too crunchy. The eggs are as yellow as the sun and compact with flavor. This breakfast was nothing less than fantastic.

Everyone finishes up and hurries to get dressed for the fair.

"Alright everyone let's head out," Rayy said.

They all get into the truck and get on their way to the fair. The fair is thirty minutes away so Rainey decides to take a nice nap. The puts his AirPods in his ear and listens to music as he sleeps. Music has always helped him relax since he was a toddler.

The ride was smooth and peaceful. Rainey wakes up with a camera on his face and his mouth leaking drool.

Rayy and Rachel begin laughing and say, "This is what beauty looks like.

In irritation Rainey says, "Get your camera out of my face and delete that picture."

Rayy and Rachel aren't surprised since he just woke up.

Rayy then says, "Ease up kiddo we made it to the fair."

Rainey's eye light up in the excitement and his irritations instantly goes away. He wipes the slobber off his mouth and hops out of the car.

Rachel hands him a piece of gum and says, "Here have this so your nap breath goes away."

Rainey loves gum and starts chewing away. He feels soreness in his teeth because of his habit of grinding his teeth together. He is a little confused about why. He does not know that he clenches his jaw and grinds his teeth unconsciously. With his teeth being sore he chews softly as they walk into the fair. They make it inside and the family becomes excited. The view is full of color and personality. So many different activities and food stand. No matter where they look, there are no boring spots.

Every year the fair has the same things with a few new additions. No matter how repetitive it gets everyone always has a good time. Rayy, Rachel, and Rainey begin to explore the fair.

"Dad let's get on that!" Rainey yells to Rayy.

Rayy and Rainey sprint to the rollercoaster in front of them. The roller coaster had a dragon's face on the front seat and a tail on the last. The dragon was green and red while the track was all black.

"Welcome to the Dragon Twister!" A worker shouted.

Rainey and Rayy charged to the front seat. They always chose the front seat because they love the view.

The worker speaks in the microphone, "Alright everyone keep your hands and legs in the seat at all times. Failing to do so may lead to injuries such as a lost leg or hand!"

The two just laugh knowing that it's just a scare tactic the workers use. The ride begins to move. The father and son duo's hearts start to jump in excitement. The dragon twister starts to reach the top of its peak. The ride stops right before going down. Rayy and Rainey were very confused by this. Then suddenly it shoots them forward.

"OH SHIT!" Rayy yelled.

Rainey busts out in laughter. Everyone on the ride starts shouting in excitement and fear. The rush has everyone's blood pumping. The ride has twists, turns, and a loop. The ride finally comes to its end. Rainey is teary-eyed from the wind hitting his face.

"Aw, what are you so scared you were crying?" Rayy sarcastically asked.

Rainey replies, "I thought you were about to cry by how scared you got on the first drop."

They both laugh and head off of the ride. The family continues on with their day of riding rides and playing games. It was all good until lunchtime.

Rainey begins to whine, "I'm starving can we please grab some food."

Rayy agrees with him, "Yeah im pretty hungry too."

Rachel says, "Alrighty let's go eat then."

The three begin walking to the food court. As they get inside Rainey sees a group of guys that look familiar. He has a bad feeling about who this group of three is. He pays close attention to seeing their faces. His stomach drops as soon as he realizes who they are. His teeth start to grind and his fingers begin to twiddle. It was the bullies who jumped him in the bathroom.

He looks at his dad and says, "Why don't leave the fair and eat somewhere else?"

"But the fair has exclusive types of food here that's part of the reason we come," Rayy explained.

Rainey doesn't argue back. He knows if he continues it will lead to more questioning. He cannot afford for his parents to know.

Everyone gets their food and finds a place to sit. They all start to eat but Rainey is having trouble.

His parents look at him and say, "Um are you okay?"

Rainey replies, "Yeah my teeth just feel sore"

Rachel says, "Well don't worry. You have a dentist appointment Monday morning."

Rainey acknowledges this and continues to try and eat. Rainey knows that saying his teeth are sore is only half the truth. He also lost his appetite after seeing his school abusers. He was only able to eat half of his pizza and some fries.

The family gets up and starts to walk out. As their backs are turned, a ball of foil hits Rainey in the back of the head. He turns around and sees the three bullies pointing and laughing at him. Rainey begins to speed walk and gets in front of his parents. Rayy and Rachel don't realize why Rainey got in front of them so they just brush it off.

The family continues on with their day but Rainey is suffering from worry. He stays close to his parents the rest of the time there. He is afraid that if the bullies catch him alone, he will get beat up again.

As the moon takes the sun's place everyone at the fair starts to gather together at the front.

"Come guys let's go!" Rachel shouted.

Rayy and Rachel begin to jog to the front. Rainey is too scared to be separated from his parents so, he has no choice but to run with them. They make it to the front and the whole family is panting.

Rayy short of breath says, "We made it!"

This was their favorite part of the day. The shows, rides, and food are good but, the firework show is the icing on the cake. The family stands patiently as it starts to become crowded. Sweaty bodies bump against each other but no one seems to mind.

Suddenly all the lights around the fair shut off. It's pitch black and all everyone can see are the stars hanging in the night sky. Everyone gets quiet.

BOOM! Everyone's eyes fixate on the colorful brightness of the starting firework. Once the first firework went away, nothing else shot up. Everyone in the fair stood in confusion.

Then a barrage of fireworks swiftly shoots into the air. The dark sky turns into a light show. The whole fair watched as the show continues. Rainey's bad thoughts disappeared. He was finally able to have a real smile sitting on his face. Rayy and Rachel notice this and smile. They grab each other's hands and enjoy the show.

The shows ended and they are now leaving. Rainey passes out of exhaustion as soon as he gets into the car. The three head home and get a good night's rest.
