The Motel Part 2: Nightmare

(Y/n) jolted awake at the sound of something flying into the other side of his wall. "Nico?" The boy yawned as he realized it was her room. He heard a few more bangs and began to grow worried.

The boy quickly grabbed the X-ray glasses from the night table and put them on. His eyes widened as he saw Nico's beautiful sleeping body floating above her bed as the contents of the room seemed to be magically thrown around. Nico seemed to be tossing and turning in her sleep.

(Y/n) quickly got out of bed and put the glasses in his pajamas pants pocket. He ran to the door and opened it.

(Y/n) turned to Nico's door and noticed Karolina also walking towards it. She must have also heard the commotion. "What's going on in there?" (Y/n) asked as the two met before Nico's door.

"I don't know" Karolina replied as she shook her head. "You're the one with the X-ray glasses. What did you see?" She didn't bother to even ask if he had looked, she knew he probably would have. She would have.

"She's floating above the bed and her magic seems to be making stuff fly around the room" (y/n) replied quickly.

"A nightmare" Karolina spoke before grabbing the door handle and blasting it with her powers. Now that the lock was broken she pulled the door open and just barely dodged a flying bible. "A very bad nightmare" she ran into the room and (y/n) followed.

(Y/n) was quickly hit in the stomach by a chair and sent flying to the ground. Karolina reached Nico and pulled her down to the bed by the sleeve of her pajama shirt. "Nico! Nico relax. You're not alone" (y/n) groaned in pain and slowly stood up. "Nico relax"

Nico's eyes shot open and she quickly noticed Karolina. She wrapped her arms around the girl and stopped throwing the furniture around. (Y/n) felt a pang of jealousy there.

Karolina held Nico until the girl pulled away. "(Y/n)!" She quickly turned and saw the boy walk over to them and sit on the bed. "You okay?" She looked at where the chair had hit him in the stomach, as if she could feel his pain.

"I'm fine" (y/n) nodded as he tried to smile in a reassuring way.  "Not the first time I've been hit in the stomach" he placed his hand on his stomach and instantly flinched in pain. "Although that chair was far larger than what I'm used to"

Nico quickly pulled away from Karolina and stood up before biting her hand. "Woah what ten fuck!" (Y/n) asked as he watched the girl with a confused look. "Just because I hurt doesn't mean you should!" (Y/n) looked at Karolina but she seemed weirdly calm about this.

Nico pulled her mouth away from her hand and looked down at the blood that was starting to flow out. "When blood is shed, let the staff of one emerge" her cleavage began to glow and from it a staff started to emerge. (Y/n) stared in shock as Nico pulled the staff out and held it before her. "Fix pain!" Suddenly (y/n) felt no pain. He looked at Nico's hand and noticed that apart from a bit of blood there was no longer any sign of her self inflicted injury.

"Woah" (y/n)'s mouth widened into a smile. "Karolina said you were magic but... Woah" Nico smiled at that before touching the bottom of the staff of one to her cleavage. It instantly pulled the staff back inside of her.

They were pulled back into the moment when Karolina spoke. "Nico what happened?"

Nico's smile immediately disappeared as she remembered her dream. "I-" she shuddered and sat back down between (y/n) and Karolina. "For the last few months I've been having nightmares" Karolina nodded, she knew this much but nothing else. (Y/n) knew none of this.

"Almost every night I find myself in Amy's room. Her- her dead body on the bed behind me" Karolina quickly grabbed one of Nico's hands. (Y/n) wanted to do the same but he hadn't known the girl as long so he restrained himself. "Tonight was different" Nico stared down at the ground and squeezed Karolina's hand tightly. "I watched, unable to stop her or turn away, as she swallowed the pills. She killed herself right in front of me and-"

Nico's eyes began tearing up and (y/n) hesitantly took her free hand. Surprisingly Nico didn't give him any sign to stop so he continued holding it. Karolina gave him an unidentifiable look but then turned back to Nico. "I'm so sorry Nico" she spoke as she wiped away the girls tears with her free hand.

(Y/n) tried to think of something to say. Not surprisingly, years of neglect and abuse did not cause someone to have good social skills. "Even if there were something you could have done, it wouldn't affect the real world" Nico nodded, she knew this of course but it still hurt.

"I- I think I could use a nightlight tonight. If you don't mind" she glanced at Karolina and the girl instantly started glowing a rainbow of colors. "Thank you" she smiled weakly before turning to (y/n). "I'm really sorry I hurt you. It's the last thing I ever wanted to-"

"I know" (y/n) cut Nico off and wrapped his arms around her. It was much easier for him to touch people if he was the one to initiate the touching. "You were asleep. You couldn't have stopped yourself" Nico sniffled before returning the hug.

"Can you-" Nico stopped mid sentence and shook her head. "Never mind. You should go"

"I can stay here tonight" (y/n) answered the girls unfinished question. "I'll sleep on the floor. It's probably cleaner than the bed in my room" (y/n) nodded and Nico smiled before nodding back.

It was silent after that. Karolina lay floating in the air as she shone, (y/n) lay on the floor and soon fell asleep while Nico did the same on her bed.
