After work I went home to change for my 'practice' date with Dave. Boston pizza isn't some fancy restaurant, it's mainly filled with families and guys watching sports and drinking beer.

As I slip on some jeans and a plain low-cut tee-shirt I think to myself. Dave has never seen me in normal clothing. Even when it's summer and the dress code is taken down a notch I still dress to impress. Sure my clothes are lighter in material but they still aren't considered casual. I wonder how he'll react to seeing this side of me? Knowing him he'll make a big show out of the whole thing, probably pretend to not recognize me since I'm not in my 'uniform'.

As I'm touching up my makeup I get a text from the man of the hour.

[Dave: Be there in 5 minutes, can't wait to get my pizza on. ^-^]

He didn't just use that as an emoji. Sometimes I wonder if Dave was a girl in his past life, if he was, he definitely died a teenager.

I get my things ready and make my way down to the lobby of my apartment to meet him.

While I'm waiting for him to arrive a dark blue Honda Civic pulls up to the front of the building. It's a type R so the person inside must live a lavish lifestyle, those cars look like the sports cars you'd see in the Grand Prix. I'm not a racing fan but I can appreciate a sexy car when I see one.

The car stops in front of me and the passenger window slowly goes down, revealing a casually dressed Dave.

Why am I not even the least bit surprised that this is his car? This matches his personality so well, flamboyant and loud.

He shoots me a wink as I climb in. He is exactly like his car.

"Nice car you got here, you got this after your raise?"

"I got this car as soon as I got promoted to my current position. The extra money meant that I get to live a life of luxury, you get it don't you? I mean look at the apartment complex you live in. It's huge and most of the rooms are condos."

He's not wrong, I got a good deal when I got my apartment. It's a condo on one of the top floors. I have a great view of the city and easy access to malls and bus stations. Not to mention the fact that the interior is almost 100% marbel, It's the kind of place celebrities would live in. I wouldn't be surprised if I ran into one in the elevator.

"Still I didn't go out and buy a sports car."

"No, you got a jeep instead."

"Hey! That jeep was a present from my family, they all pitched in and got it for me after I graduated and immediately got a job at my co-op placement."

"Hold up, You were a co-op student here?"

"If by here you mean the office then yes. They liked me so much I was guaranteed a job after I graduated. They only had to wait a few months before they'd be able to call me an employee. They threw me a party to welcome me to the team. I've had this job ever since."

"Wow, so you're like the golden child of the company. It's a little rising star. You're basically a child, it raised you."

"...That's one way to look at it. It's more like they saw something they wanted, saw an opportunity to get it and didn't let it go. They saw something in me that I never noticed. I'm grateful for the people who taught me what I know now. It's because of them that I managed to get my current role in the company."

"It sounds like you had quite the friend group. Where does Kate come into the picture?"

"She came in about a year later, they were hiring and I recommended her. I told her to take the chance and now here she is working in the same company as her best friend."
