Thump

A small sound could be heard around the library

Thump

The same sound could be heard again, this time accompanied with the sound of many pages flipping

Thump

And again, but this time followed up with a sigh

Meet Grayton, the tired high school student, it seems that he has been in the library for 2 hours now, and judging by his annoyed fingers hitting the hardwood table-

"I can't understand any of this!" Grayton suddenly exclaimed before being hushed by the librarian.

He then, deciding there was no point in staying any further, decided to tidy up and leave. Grayton figured that he needed a break, so he went to a park nearby and started pacing around. Walking around like this calmed him down on bad days. He liked the quiet atmosphere and the light fog that always seemed to linger around this park. Always has been.

As he walks he reminisces about his childhood playing and running around in this park. But today was different, Grayton swore it was just his imagination but the park seems quieter than most days. He then decided to push those thoughts to the back of his mind and continued walking. But as he kept on walking, those thoughts were forced to resurface.

The park he entered was no bigger than a soccer field, but he's been walking for a while now and hasn't even seen the other end of the park. Not only that, he hasn't seen a single person aside from him in this park. This park was usually quiet, but there would always be a few other people inside the park.

Something was obviously very wrong.

At that moment, Grayton decided to look around and assess the situation. The park was now seemingly covered in a heavy fog, and Grayton no longer recognized what part of the park he was in, even though he has been visiting this park for years.

"Alright, what should I do now?" Grayton thought to himself, maintaining a calm demeanor.

"Well in hindsight, there isn't much choice aside from to keep walking is there?" Grayton thought, a small smile forming on his face.

Accepting that he didn't have much choice in the matter, Grayton continues walking towards the fog and decided to let whatever happens... well, happen.

Grayton then started walking again and the fog got thicker. As he was walking through the fog, Grayton could feel the cool atmosphere of the fog in his skin. He noticed he was sweating a lot despite the cool temperature and proceeded to wipe his sweat off his brow. Weird. Grayton then stopped walking and stood still for a moment, still perspiring. He took a deep breath and confronted the fact that was getting more obvious by the second: He was scared.

"Who wouldn't be?" He thought, convincing himself that anyone would be scared given the situation.

After calming himself down, Grayton continues walking forward, this time with a more cautious stance. As if something was going to charge at him at any second. It didn't take long for Grayton to relax back into a casual stroll, thinking that if something wanted him dead, it would probably succeed no matter what Grayton did. After all, he was unarmed and basically blind in this fog. He could almost laugh at how helpless he is in this situation

But just as Grayton was deep in thought, the fog suddenly clears. Revealing that he was standing in the middle of a large ocean. Yes, he was standing on top of the water, things were getting weirder and weirder. Grayton looked around to see if he could find land or any semblance of the park he was in, but found that his search was useless as his vision is still impaired by the fog in the distance. All he could see was the water under him.

"Today is going to be a very, very long day" Grayton thought to himself

"If I even survive today that is." He smiled
