AN: obviously taking artistic liberties and changing historical facts around because I can and because Trix is mine. X's to separate sexy time.
November 1996
Trix had left Creation Records and moved out of London. She felt better. She was happier. Alan missed her but he understood burn out. He was suffering from it himself. It was unavoidable in that world. Late nights, sex, drugs, alcohol 24/7. She was writing for NME semi regularly now and it paid the bills well enough. She'd made good money at Creation and had some savings behind her.
She still travelled to London regularly for work but she was glad to be out of the madness of the city. She'd moved to Wales not far from where she and Noel had first gone away together. The sea air and sound of the waves were powering her through her novel. Her first. A small publishing house had accepted her proposal and she was currently writing her first draft. She was content. A little lonely but no longer alone.
Oasis had taken over the world She'd been keeping up with them as best as she could. Knebworth. The boys across the street playing to the biggest crowd in the UK ever. 2 platinum albums back to back. She smiled proudly as she thought of them. She hadn't seen Noel since the NME awards but they'd written each other a few times. He'd congratulated her on her new job. Sent her flowers. Peonies, her favourite. He'd remembered, of course. And she'd congratulated him on all his success and his recent engagement sending him cards.
She visited Peggy and her dad every week now work was less crazy and she was closer to home. Sometimes Peggy would even come stay with her to take in the sea air. She couldn't believe what her boys had achieved either. She was so proud of them. And rightly so.
She made Peggy tea as they sat and sipped them on her porch wrapped in shawls. Winter was on it's way but it was a fine, sharp sunny day.
"I'm worried about Noel." Peggy said quietly.
Trix turned to her with a frown.
"Not Liam? That makes a nice change." She said trying to keep the mood light.
Peggy chuckled.
"He's calmed down a bit with Patsy hasn't he? Seems happy enough."
Trix nodded with a grin. They seemed so in love. She'd met her a few times. Beautiful, classy, lady. They looked great together and adored each other. Her Liam. Engaged? Mad.
"He loves her. He really loves her. Getting married and everything. You ready to be a granny soon?"
Peggy gave her a worried look and Trix laughed.
"Oh God give me strength. Wish he'd waited a few more years but that's Liam for you always jumped right in without a thought. But aye he's happy. They're happy. That's all I ever wanted for my boys."
Trix looked at her softly.
"You think Noel isn't happy then?"
Peggy nodded and sighed deeply.
"I know he's not. Engaged to completely the wrong girl, God forgive me for saying that, but she is. She doesn't make him happy. Only interested in designing the nice, big house he bought her and buying herself nice things."
Trix swallowed thickly. Peggy looked completely distraught.
She'd heard rumours to this effect that she genuinely hoped weren't true. She still loved Noel but ultimately she wanted him to be happy and if that meant marrying someone else then that's what it would mean. But not if it was to someone who didn't love or care for him.
"But I mean he must love her. Noel would never do anything for the sake of it if he didn't truly believe it. He overthinks everything just like Liam doesn't think at all."
