Dahlia heard a knock at the door.

"Kurapika?"

"Dahlia, do you want to come out to dinner with me? I'll pay for everything."

"Whoah, where is this coming from? But sure. Is next Monday good?"

"No! I mean... no. It isn't. I'm busy for the rest of the month. We're going tonight. If... if that's okay with you."

"Uhh, okay."

"I'll wait down in the lobby, just come down whenever you're ready."

He shut the door.

What a weirdo.

She dug through her wardrobe until she found a semi-formal dress. The bodice was white and formfitting. The skirt fell just below her knees and had embroidered flowers.

She felt the silky fabric sliding over her body as she ran down the stairs. She was holding her classy, shiny black heels and put them on in the lobby. Kurapika looked tense. She grabbed his arm when he stood up.

"Are you okay Pika? You seem tense and this out-of-nowhere date is... so out of character."

His eyes flickered. "I just need to spend some time with you."

He took her to a restaurant. It was fancy and had a beautiful view of the city. Kurapika moved a strand of black hair out of her face. His hands were soft. "You look so pretty tonight." He whispered. She smiled and stared at him. His hair had obviously been brushed and styled, although it didn't look too different than it normally did. His pink lips were curled up into a smile. His eyes occasionally flashed red.

"Hey," Dahlia looked up. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom. Don't run off while I'm gone." She nodded.

Kurapika fumbled with the latch on the stall door. When he heard it click, he spun around and sat on the toilet. He buried his face in his hands and let himself cry. Only for a second. He began to mutter to himself.

"I have to do it. They're counting on me."

He clenched his fist.

"But I love her so much."

He pulled his hands away from his eyes and stared at them. His wet palms reflected his bright red eyes. He wiped them on his suit.

He cupped Dahlia's cheek in his palm. Her face glimmered in the moonlight, her sharp features highlighted.

He payed and they left. Hand in hand down the sidewalk. "I know a place that has an even better view." He whispered. "Oh?"

He led her to an abandoned pier, covering her eyes.

"Oh... Pika... it's gorgeous!" She turned around and wrapped her arms around his waist, lips crashing together. She broke away and rested her head on his shoulder. "I love you, Kurapika."

She leaned against the railing, watching the sea. Waves rolled onto the beach and were sucked back out into the ocean. The breeze rustled their hair. "Hey, I'll be right back."

She just nodded and continued to stare out at the water.

He walked about 15 feet behind her and pulled a small handgun out of his pocket. He raised it up and aimed for the back of her head. The safety clicked off.

It was the slightest noise, yet it still made her turn around.

"Kurapika, what the hell are you doing?"
