*Calista*

I carry my luggage and walk slowly looking for Howard.
"Miss Calista" he says.
"Oh Howard call me Calista."

He smiles and takes me to the car. I mutter a 'thanks' when he takes my luggage from me. I and Howard made small talk until we reached my parents' house. I knew that my parents weren't around considering they were workaholics but they always made sure their work never got in the way of our family.

Immediately I enter my room, I sleep.

                              Jetlag is a bitch.

"Calista?" I heard the distance voice of my mother but I ignored her call and tried to sleep back. Seriously though, I can't be the only one who has done that. Every normal person should've done it at least once. Who am I kidding? At least 5-10 times.
"Callie?!" I still tried to see if I could sleep back.

She stopped calling me after sometime and I finally slept happily until, I felt cold water on me. I was drenched.

I gasped and stood up, "What the fu-?!" I didn't dare complete that sentence when I saw it was my mum. And it looked like she wanted to hear me complete that sentence.

"Mum? Why?" I asked still finding it hard to formulate a sentence. She grinned and replied, "Do you think I didn't know you heard me when I was calling you?" I glared at her in reply.

"Now come and give your mummy a hug." I was so pissed at her but hugged her anyways and went to greet my dad. We hugged  and then started getting ready for lunch. Although my parents had money considering my grandparents and great grandparents were rich, we lived a rather simple life in consideration to our wealth.

"Calista, how is New York treating you?" My dad asked.
"Well, it's quite busy and quite good."
"Mmm, your accent is still intact. Not surprised though" my mum said.

"It's not really much of choice mum. I left England to New York when I was 18 so, I'm pretty much stuck with it" my parents nodded.

"How is Chelsea?" My mum asks.
"She's fine" my parents met chels when they came to visit me since I their presence repulsed me. My mother's worse not mine. she's very very dramatic. I think it's a mum thing. They were quite surprised she didn't know who the were. With her bubbly attitude, her accent and her intelligence, it was safe to say she won their hearts. Especially my mother's.

I and my parents keep on talking for a while until I drop both my hands flat on the table. Immediately, I hear a gasp from my mum,"Callie what is that?" She asks pointing to my ring finger.

I blush.

I forgot to keep my ring. I was planning on showing it to my parents maybe the next day but fate had other plans.
"It's a ring mum" I reply nonchalantly.

"We can see that! From who Calista?" my dad asks anxiously.

"Damon"

"Do you mean your ex boyfriend?" My mum asks.

"Well, he obviously isn't an ex seeing as I'm with a ring. From him" I reply while rolling my eyes.

"Now is not the time to be a smart ass Calista! Now is not the time! We don't have time for this" my father says.

"You have to break up with him immediately" my father  says as if that's happening. My mum on the other hand keeps on mumbling, "I knew we could have told her since."

"And why should I father?"

"Because-" my mother interrupts him almost immediately.
"We called you here for a reason Calista. Have we ever called you with such urgency? There's a bit of an issue, and I and your father are sorry for not telling you when you were younger," my mum says as if she's speaking sense to me.
