it was vea's birthday and just as jahseh said, they had thrown her a birthday party. she was wearing a white longsleeve runched mini dress with some tie up the leg sandals. stokeley got her a tiara and a birthday girl sache. jahseh was wearing all white as well and vea kept telling him how sexy he looked.

"happy birthday vea! ima play this and i want you to turn up for us one time!" gabe said over the mic and the song 'birthday bitch' started playing.

"one time for the birthday bitch!" kyla sang along, pushing vea to the center of the yard.

vea laughed as she looked around and everyone was already looking at her.

'three times for the birthday bitch'

"fuck it up if it's your birthday bitch!!" kyla yelled and vea bent over and started twerking. everyone in the yard started yelling, hyping her up and jahseh got behind her, pushing on her arch as she danced.

"goddamn now we see how she got pregnant!" gabe said as she stood up and hugged jahseh.

"i think that's exactly how it happened." vea laughed and jahseh laughed at her.

she had finally gotten comfortable around the friend group and she definitely wasn't shy vea they had met a year ago. she sat down on jahseh's lap in the throne they had for her. she felt like the decorations were a lot but stokeley, jahseh and the twins weren't taking no for an answer.

they sat there for about thirty minutes before stokeley came over to them. "i just went and got your mom, she's in the house with dad and my mom." he said in her ear because the music was loud. vea nodded and got up, pulling jahseh with her.

she took a deep breath and walked into the sliding door. they had decided to have the party at jahseh's house because he's further away from his neighbors and they didn't want to deal with noise complaints.

the couple walked into the kitchen hand in hand and vea's dad pulled her into a hug immediately.

"hey dad." she smiled and once he let her go, she hugged stokeley's mom.

"hey mama." she said to her mom and the woman gave her a once over.

"when were you going to tell me about this?" is all she asked and vea sighed.

she went to say something but jahseh did instead. "all i ask is that you hide your disappointment or negative feelings and be happy for us. she was afraid to tell you because of what she thought your reaction would be. i was the one who convinced her to tell you today so that you could be there for her throughout the pregnancy. my mother has been there and so has stokeley's but i feel like she needs you."

vea's mother sighed. "young man, i may not agree with your lifestyle or the things that you have been accused of doing in the past. i can see change and i thank you for taking care of my daughter."

"and your grandson." vea said.

"it's a boy?" she asked and vea nodded. she walked closer and let her mom put her hands on her belly. "oh vea."

vea smiled, tears welling up in her eyes, she wiped the ones from her mother's cheeks.

"say hi to grandma, little one." vea said quietly. they waited a few moments before vea felt a push and her mother gasped.

"that's my boy. we gon' have a soccer player." jahseh said from behind vea.

vea laughed. "with all that kicking he does, yeah."

"vea, it's time to open gifts." cleo said and vea kissed her mom's forehead before walking out of the sliding door. vea sat on the throne, jahseh stood beside her and cleo handed her one of the gifts.

stokeley got her a cartier bracelet and a gucci hoodie. the twins got her a pair of red bottoms and some lingerie because of course they would. cleo got her a gucci track suit and shoes to match. her dad got her an oil change on her car which she thanked him greatly for because she wasn't going to do it. gabe got her a replica of stokeley's millennium puzzle chain, just smaller. everyone else had sent money. jahseh got the most gifts; a new iphone and a pair of airpods, a diamond necklace, a cuban link, a charm bracelet and ten thousand dollars. what she needed with that money, she didn't know but she'd find some way to spend it.

"thank y'all so much!" she said happily and gabe handed jahseh a microphone.

"there's one more thing princess." he said and she tilted her head at him. "you remember when your friends told you to marry me?"

vea instantly started to cry. everyone had their phones out, recording the big moment. he was actually doing it, he was proposing to her.

he got down on one knee in front of her and pulled a ring box from his pocket. "open it." he told her and vea opened the box, more tears running down her face. "i don't wanna say too much because you already know everything. baby i love you, more than i love myself. more than anything in this fucking world. i wanna spend the rest of my life with you. baby will you marry me?"

vea sniffed, grabbing jahseh's face in her hands. she wanted to say so much more but all she could get out was a small "yes".

he put the microphone down and slipped the ring onto her left ring finger. it was a pretty ring, silver band with 'j' in diamonds. the ring sparkled in the sunlight, it was beautiful.

"she said yes!" he said happily and pulled her up into a hug, spinning her around quickly.

everyone around them cheered and clapped, making vea cry harder.

he actually did it, he proposed.
