moving in itself is tedious. moving while you're pregnant is even more trying. jahseh and the boys did everything, but it was still a lot to try and pack and be moving around a lot.

"you eat yet?" cleo asked and vea shook her head. she only had granola and yogurt for breakfast that morning. it was almost three pm. "it looks like they've got this. lets go get some food in you, you look pale." she grabbed her keys and vea didn't protest, walking out of the house with her.

they got into the car and drove to mcdonalds because that's what vea was craving. salty things always make her less nauseated, she wasn't throwing up anymore but the nausea was sometimes unbearable.

she got a twenty piece chicken nugget meal with sprite of course and cleo got things for all of the boys. they drove in silence, vea nibbling on the fries from the bag. when they got back to the house, jahseh came outside immediately.

"you didn't tell me you were leaving and your phone was going to voicemail, i was worried about you." he said as he opened her car door.

"i'm sorry. we just went to go get food." she murmered.

cleo rolled her eyes at her son, taking the bags of food from vea. "calm down son. they alright."

jahseh glared at his mother as she walked up the stairs but his eyes softened when he turned back to his fiance. he was protective over her already but when she got pregnant, it got worse.  "i could have ordered you something baby. you need to rest."

vea kissed him quickly, pushing him back so she could hop out of the car. "i'm pregnant, not handicapped jah. i haven't left the house in a couple of days, i needed that." he put his hand on the small of her back, leading her into the house. "and stop being mean to your mother." she murmered.

"yes ma'am." he said under his breath and vea walked into the kitchen to get her food. jahseh finished helping move all of her stuff into the room, deciding to let her organize everything herself. stokeley and gabe stood in the nursery, trying to figure out where to put things. jahseh walked past the room and doubled back, deciding that they may need help.

"do you know where this goes?" stokeley asked. he was holding up a box of diapers. jahseh took the box from him and put it where all the other changing stuff was.

"vea's organizing all of this in here. i'd get out before she gets mad." he said, gabe obliged happily, saying something about going to eat.

"why it seem like y'all tense. is everything good?" stokeley asked and the younger boy nodded.

"it's fine, it's just crunch time. she's not due for another three months but i'm nervous man. on top of this and the wedding.." he sighed, running his hands over his face. "i just don't want to fail them."

"vea told me the same thing just a few days ago. she's nervous too, y'all gotta relax vrother." he reassured his friend.

jahseh nodded, a small smile on his face. "we'll really be brothers now."

stokeley shook his head. "we been brothers, jah."

"i was thinking," vea started, jahseh looked up from his notebook. she climbed into the bed and put the blanket over her. "i don't want a wedding."

jahseh furrowed his eyebrows. "what?"

"you said something about going somewhere to elope. i want to do that. we can have the reception and all of that for our family. but i just want to be married to you." she said.

he exhaled a breath of air. "that's what i wanted to do in the first place. go get your dress tomorrow, pack a bag and we'll leave this weekend."

four days later and vea was standing in the kitchen, cooking a big dinner to tell everyone that she and jahseh had eloped. they took pictures and framed them, vea scattered them around the house, leaving one on the table.

"gabe said he's on the way with stoke. and my mom should be here at the same time as them." jahseh said and vea nodded. she was nervous, afraid that everyone would be mad at the two of them. jahseh put his hands on her waist and placed a kiss on her cheek. "it's okay princess. we didn't kill anybody, we just got married."

"without our family." she murmered.

jahseh furrowed his eyebrows, stepping away from his wife. "you regret marrying me, vea?"

"i didn't say that, jah. i would marry you in a thousand other lives if i could. i just wish we would have at least taken my brother." she said.

"everything will be okay. he'll understand." he said and walked out of the kitchen. moments later, there were several knocks at the door. vea heard it open and she heard all the familiar voices.

gabe, stokeley, cleo, trippie and isaiah walked into the kitchen.

"no way all of y'all got here on time." jahseh said, calling their attention. there was a chorus if laughter and stokeley hugged vea before sitting down at the table.

"oh shit, this picture is dope." stokeley grabbed the picture. "y'all took these on your trip?"

vea turned off the stovetop and moved the pot from the stove to the table. "yeah, we did."

"there's a reason we invited y'all here." jahseh said. "everybody ain't here yet but y'all are the core people we want to know. me and vea eloped on our trip."

cleo held out her hand and stokeley handed her a fifty dollar bill from his pocket. "i told you."

"i'm happy for y'all!" gabe said. stokeley looked a bit hurt.

"i didn't get to walk you down the isle." he said, vea sighed and grabbed his hand. "why didn't you tell me, v?"

"we're having another ceremony for y'all. i just couldn't stand another second not being married to jah."

he nodded in understanding. "i'm happy for you, sis." he stood up and pulled her into a hug. "i love you so much."
