It's wash day and Y/N barely has any energy to do it, so Gellert helps her out.
Today was one of those days where everything felt like a chore. I had been like this for weeks, but I had periods where I was able to get up and do some light cleaning. Most times these random bursts came pretty late at night, and I preferred to use that energy to clean the apartment.
I laid in bed frustrated with myself because I couldn't get myself to get out of bed. The apartment was covered in a thin layer of dust and my hair had been in the same style under my bonnet for a while.
Things had started to get better and I had managed to clean my room, but the thought of cleaning the rest of the apartment or washing and styling my hair made me feel drained.I had a room-mate, but he hadn't been home in a long time so he hadn't been there to clean or force me out of bed like he usually did. The excuse he had given me for him disappearing for weeks was that he had some "business he had to take care of". I don't know what 'business' he had to take care of and I didn't want to know, that wizard was always up to no good.
Gellerts POV
The mission I had gone on was only supposed to last a few days, but due to some unforeseen circumstances things had gone south and some plans needed to be changed. Luckily everything had ended up going well in the end, so I could finally return home. I was a little worried about my room-mate because I hadn't heard from her since I had left. I'd usually get at least one message from her, but this time I hadn't heard anything.I got home around midday and walked straight into the kitchen. I hadn't eaten properly in weeks so I was looking forward to eating Y/Ns leftovers, but when I opened the fridge it was nearly empty. I looked around and noticed that the furniture didn't look as colourful as it did when I left, so I ran my fingers over the counter and saw that it was covered in a thin layer of dust. "Maybe she went travelling?" I thought to myself and made my way toward her room to check.
I knocked on the door and when I didn't receive an answer I slowly opened it and went in. The room was chilly because her window was open and she was laying on the bed watching something on her laptop. She looked up at me and gave me a faint smile. "Hey, is everything alright?" I ask and she sighs, closing her laptop and sitting up. She proceeded to explain what had happened and my heart ached for her. This would happen every once in a while and every time it broke my heart to see her in this state.Y/N POV
After I finished ranting to Gellert about my problems he stared blankly at me for a moment before he spoke. "I can wash your hair for you if you want". At first I thought he was joking, but I quickly realised that he wasn't. I stared at him for a moment before agreeing.I stood in front of the bathroom mirror and gently took down my braids, while Gellert got the water and the products ready. When he finished with that he came over to me and helped me take down the rest. He was quite gentle and spent a considerable amount of time on each one making sure that he did it properly, and making sure that he wasn't hurting me.
We finished and I grabbed a towel and placed it over my shoulders as I sat down on the floor and leaned backwards.
I looked up at him as he put some conditioner in my hair and started to gently detangle it. I couldn't help but smile because I had never imagined that he would one day be helping me with my hair.
When he had first moved in with me he didn't like me very much. Probably had something to do with the fact that I was a normal human, or a 'muggle' as they like to call us.
My friend who was a wizard, had talked me into letting him move in with me for a while. He hadn't specified why, but I eventually after a lot of begging from my friend I gave in and let Gellert move in with me. At first he was cold and quite mean toward me and refused to speak or even be in the same room as me. I complained to my friend, but he told me to just "Give him some time, he's like this with everyone. Eventually he'll warm up to you". He was right, slowly but surely he warmed up to me. It started with him finally not complaining about every meal I made, then he stopped walking out of rooms every time I walked in. He would ask me if I wanted anything from the store, every time he went out, and eventually he started speaking and having long conversations with me, and after some time he would hug me and say bye to me every time he had to leave to go on a mission. My eyes started to travel up and down his face, examining his features. In my opinion he was quite a handsome man. I had never seen someone like him before, to me he was perfect. The thing I liked about him the most was his eyes. He had one warm brown eye while the other one was icy blue. I liked to think that they represented the two sides of him. On one side he was warm and caring, while on the other side he was ruthless and cold. I also really liked his smile, every time he smiled at me my heart would flutter and I would get thousands of butterflies in my stomach.
He looked down at me and I quickly shifted my eyes to look at the ceiling. His eyes eventually went back to my hair and I continued to look up at the ceiling, sneaking quick glances at him from time to time. Every time I looked I could swear that he was blushing.
*3 hours later*
I sat on the floor between Gellerts legs eating a slice of pizza and watching a show on the TV, while he braided my hair for me. It had only been about 3 hours or so and he was almost done with a style that would usually take me about 5 or so hours to finish.Gellerts POV
My thoughts kept going back to the things she had said or rather thought about me earlier. No matter how hard I tried my mind kept going there, "did she really think that I was handsome? Or did she know that I could read her thoughts, and she was trying to score some brownie points with me?"
I didn't want to believe that the girl I'd had a crush on for months thought I was handsome. I had convinced myself that she hated, or disliked me because of the way I had treated her in the past. I was quite ashamed of how I had treated her when I first moved in, I judged her too quickly. When I had first met her she was quiet and very shy, but I mistook that for her disliking me. Every time she'd make me food I'd wait for her to leave the room before throwing it out because I was convinced that she was trying to poison me. I was wrong, she was genuinely just trying to be nice to me, but I thought that her kindness was a facade. I had no reason to believe this and eventually our mutual friend talked some sense into me and I slowly started to warm up to her.
I finished the last braid and sat there admiring my work. I had spent a lot of time watching videos and reading books about her hair texture, and how to style it so that one day I could help her out.
"Alright, we're done here. What do you think?" I asked her and handed her a mirror. She smiled brightly and I got butterflies when she said that she loved them. "Wow, you did great! Thank you..." She said as she stood up and turned around to give me a tight hug. I hugged her back and when she eventually let go of me I felt a little sad. "I'm going to sleep, I'm tired. I'll see you tomorrow, good night Gellert". She gathered up her hair products and started walking toward her room. "Oh okay, Good night Y/N, see you tomorrow" I said as I watched her walk into her room. After she closed the door I let out a deep sigh and looked out of the window at the moon.
Eventually I got up and went to my own room.
That's the end, I hope you enjoyed this <3
