"So, how do I look?" I asked Ana finally turning around. She simply stared at me with the most bewildered expression. "Ana, I need actual feedback...?"
"Um...wow," She replied. "Just wow. We should go out more often."
I'd dressed in a long-sleeved laced black dress that fell right below my knees, with a round neck. I paired it with a pair of black heels, a laced chocker with a dangling silver heart and my braids were in a neat bun.
"Well, wish me luck," I said grabbing my backpack.
"Are you seriously carrying that?" She asked looking at my backpack.
"Yeah," I replied simply.
"Well, ok. Throw a couple of drinks in there while you're at it."
"I get to carry my hoodie and sneakers," I said justifying myself.
"Off you go now."
"See you later Ana."
"Bye!"
I could barely feel my feet three hours into the party. The music was very loud, and I was sure I'd leave nearly deaf. Adrian had me serving drinks and a couple of assorted desserts while he tended to some VIP clients. I was surprised that we were catering for an office party. Serving the open bar was a disaster and walking with the trays was worse than I'd thought.
Before my last rounds with the trays, I slipped my heels off and wore my sneakers. I cared not what I looked like and besides, nearly everyone was too drunk to notice.
"Chocolate truffles?" I asked and got a couple of "No thanks". A hand landed on my lower back and slipped to my ass before I could react.
"I'd like a chocolate truffle." I quickly turned around and moved back so fast that I nearly dropped the tray. "Well, aren't you pretty?" He added slurring his words. He was completely wasted and all I could do was turn around and walk away. He grabbed my other arm and the tray crashed to the ground.
"Let go of me!" I gasped trying to break free. No one else seemed to pay attention and I was beginning to panic.
"What the fuck!" He cried dropping my arm and looking up at who had grabbed him. "You're going to break my arm."
"Touch her again and your arm is not the only thing I'll break." And with that, he was shoved to the ground and struggled to get up.
"Are you ok?" Adrian asked reaching for my bruised arm.
"Yeah. I think I need to leave," I whispered tears in my eyes.
"Come on, I'll drive you." He said wrapping his arm around me protectively and pushing through the crowd.
