Another school year, at the same school, with the same people. Jasper hated Fairview High School. He hated the kids at his school, he at times even hated the teachers. He was drowning in depression, and had no ones help but his own. But at the same time, he never let anyone close enough to help him, nor get to know him.
It's been 2 years since his parents divorced over money and their love "fading away". It had pushed Jasper over the edge. That's when the depression started. That's when his life fell into a pit of despair. That's when he ended up here, at this school, with a bunch of people he STILL didn't know. Nothing made him happy, well, besides sleeping and hanging out with his dad on Friday nights/weekends (the only real time he saw his dad, due to him constantly working). His dad wouldn't let Jasper work.
"I'm your father, I should take care of you. You're in high school, go out and have fun. Don't worry about money, I'm here for that." were his fathers words.
He paid for everything. Jasper's car, the gas, anything he needed, and at times the things he wanted. It made Jasper feel bad, but how could he say no to his father. After everything he's done? No. He couldn't.
Jasper loved his father, but he could be really stubborn at times. Especially when Jasper would ask about why his dad still had a picture of his mom.
"We might not be together Jasper, but I will always love your mother", his father once said.
"Then why did you get a divorce?", Jasper asked.
"Your mother didn't love me back anymore, she found someone else. Someone better. But even with her gone, I still have you Jasper. And son, that's all that matters to me right now."
It was then that Jasper realized that the stereotype of guys just being dogs, was wrong. Guys loved too. Yes, guys can be dogs. But some guys can be pure and loving. Girls are the same way, some are...not sluts...but maybe...non-caring in a way.
Jasper never wanted to love someone in that kind of way. It would be too stressful, too keep a girl happy, while also keeping your self happy. Too much drama, and besides who wanted to date Jasper White?
"Wait, who is Jasper White?", people would ask upon hearing his name.
"That kid from Colorado remember?", someone would reply.
"Oh yeah."
But being invisible had its perks. No one bothered him, and no one made fun of him. But it also had its downfalls...the plain fact of not being noticed described it all.
Things were going smoothly, besides being invisible. His grades were good, Jasper was in good health, he wasn't poor(nor rich), and he had his dad.
"Another boring long year.", thought Jasper.
But he was wrong, this was the year that would change the rest of his life, his view on the world, and ultimately his view on himself.
