"First day is always the most important!", exclaimed Jasper's Dad.
"Why?", Jasper asked.
"It's a new beginning Jasp. Each year is a new chance to make a change to your life,", Jasper's Dad walked to the kitchen and returned with a set of car keys then continued, "You're a Senior now. The highest class in school. I expect to see a girl in the passenger seat by next week."
He then handed over the keys. Jasper immediately noticed the Ford logo, and on the back a running horse.
"A Ford Mustang. Really Dad?"
"GT 500. Yes sir.", his Dad gave him a smile, "I know, I know. You think you owe me, or should be helping me pay for things. But to be honest with you son, I work for you. You and you only, and this car is the last gift of mine. I don't know what to do with my money now!"
His dad laughed and patted Jasper on the back.
"Go get 'em son."

"Welcome to AP Biology, for the entire year you will have a partner. This partner, like I mentioned, will be with you until the end of the year, unless I decide otherwise.", said Mr. Portney.
Jasper began to wonder who he would be paired up with, if they would talk. Would they like me? Would they notice me?
Mr. Portney began reading off names of pairs. Kyle with Jane. Samantha with Alyssa. Jayson with Clyde. Then finally.
"Jasper with April, at station 7."
Who was April? Wait....April Clark? The bombshell dancer April Clark?
Jasper felt the anxiety hit him all at once. Like a tidal wave too high.
He made his way to Station 7, and at first it seemed as if Jasper wouldn't have a partner after all.
But in she came, 12 minutes late to first period. She had on a green tee shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of black Vans. Her hair was down, and it went down to her lower back. The all natural blonde hair, seemed to lighten in the slight sunlight that passed the blinds of the windows.
"You're with Jasper at 7.", Mr. Portney said.
With a nod she made her way to Station 7, he felt his heart race faster and faster the closer she got. She sat down next to him elegantly, she dropped her backpack on the floor under the table and sighed.
Was it because of him? Was it Jasper? Or was it the fact that summer was over and she was back in school? Whatever it was, Jasper hoped that they got along. He needed to keep his 3.8 GPA.
April looked over at Jasper and looked him the eyes, and with a voice like silk she said:
"Hi, I'm April Clark. Looks like we will be stuck with each other for awhile."
She smiled. Then raised an eyebrow. Giggled a bit, then asked.
"And you are...?"
That's when Jasper's anxiety escaped him with a deep breath.
"I'm Jasper White, and I hope you don't mind working with me."
She laughed, then looked forward at Mr. Portney, then again and Jasper.
"How much you wanna bet he's an ass?"
"I bet you the rest of your gum, we won't do anything today, and that he's not an ass?"
She nodded, and as if summoned by their conversation Mr. Portney made his to the center front of the class.
"Alright pull out your textbooks that are directly under your seat and let's open to page 17", he smiled and turned to the chalkboard an began writing, "It's gonna be a long year people."
When he turned away from the chalkboard, 3 words were written on it.
Genesis of Life.
April snapped her fingers and looked over at Jasper, she smirked and chewed on her gum.
"I prefer grape flavored gum, and as long as you do your share of work, I won't mind working with you."
"That's good because I'm surprised you even noticed me sitting here."
"You're not as invisible as you think Jasper, people actually know who you are. Well now that you got a new ride."
"Over my car?"
"It's the small things in life that draw attention Jasper."
"Like how you chew your gum?"
"Exactly!"
Jasper smiled and looked at the chalkboard.
Genesis- beginning; origin.
He could already feel his world change, the chance his father mentioned was right here beside him.
