Henry took in another sharp breath "MAISIE!"

Henry and Kayla woke up a couple of minutes ago to Maisie and Maya gone. Maya ran away from her parents a lot and dragged Maisie with her when they were at the outpost, so Kayla had assumed they were just having some time together. Henry though kept calling their names because he didn't think Maisie would just run off with Maya for some "friend" time. Maisie had the same instincts as him.

She would know what to do in these situations. How to survive, what to do. Or he was geeking out again about Maisie being the daughter of Owen. He was still concerned either way.

"Maybe they are hanging out like I said," Kayla put Maisie's jacket on a branch. "I mean have you seen how they look at each other?"

Henry sighed, "Yeah. Maya likes her, I know that for a fact. But Maisie? I have no clue"

"Maisie is a closeted lesbian mess." Kayla laughed softly. With all the running around with Maya, and the way they looked at each other and smiled instantly, she knew that something was going on between them.

"Whatever, okay? We need to survive too. Let's just wait till they come back. In the meantime, we both can search for a place to sleep in." He said as he stepped somewhere into the forest. Henry was pissed, if they did leave to go hang out that would be irresponsible. They were in the woods with meat-eating monsters for God's sake.

Kayla walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, "what's wrong?" She knew that he was on edge. He always was but this time he was pissed at the same time and being pissed while on edge is not a good look.

"I'm just mad. If they did go out to swap spit or something, that would be putting a lot at risk." Henry blinked fastly, why wouldn't they just ask me to leave? God, they are so stupid.

"Yeah well, they are two people who are dumbly in love." She joked. I should go for it. I mean is it the right time? IT'S NEVER GOING TO IF I DON'T DO IT NOW. Well here goes nothing. "Henry.."

"Yeah?" He smiled barely, hell the only reason he was smiling was because of Kayla. He can't be laughing at that joke she made because he related so much to it.

She pursed her lips together before speaking, "I like you... Like I like-like you." Kayla frowned when Henry didn't react. She knew that it was the wrong time to drop a bomb on everything but she couldn't wait.

"Kayla I like you too." Henry snickered, that was unexpected. "Can we?"

"Yeah." her frown flickered into a smile before she kissed him. It wasn't a heated kiss, it was a small one. It meant a lot though. A lot.

𝐌𝐀𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐄 𝐀𝐓𝐄 some of the last berries. It had been a couple more hours after the whole face centimeters away from her face incident. She realized that she was madly in love with Maya. Well they are still young so scratch the madly part.

"You ate the last of the berries?!" Maya moaned throwing her head back in frustration. She was hungry again even though she just ate like five berries. That's about a handful.

Maisie rolled her eyes, "we need to find more food anyways. This will just drive us to do it more." Or y'know they'd die slowly.

"One, that's cruel. Two, that's cruel. Three," Maya stopped walking when she saw a corpse. A dinosaur one. It was a big dinosaur, like big big.

Maisie paused to and followed where Maya was looking at. "Holy shit." She walked to the creature and examined the wounds. A claw mark was in graves into the skin. And that claw mark was massive, and fresh.

Maisie ran her hand in the cut. The blood was still red and not dried. Whatever did this was close.

"M-Maisie..." Maya stuttered over her words. She was looking up above Maisie with a terrified look on her face.

As a drop of blood fell onto Maisie's hand she looked up. A seventy six feet dinosaur that she didn't recognize stood above her, teeth dyed red. She was fucked.

The dinosaur Flug it's tail at Maisie and it shot her to a tree, Maya ran to her and pulled her up. Yeah she was an idiot, state of the art one in fact. But she knew when it was time to run. And now was the the time.

"I'm fine." Maisie started to push Maya off her but wasn't able to because Maya was already running with Maisie's arm locked over her shoulder.

"Yeah nice try." Maya saw a cave in the distance, the dinosaur had been trailing behind them the whole time. Maya shivered at the vibrations the ground made from its footsteps, Maisie would of too if she wasn't groaning every step they took.

"We- we got to deflect it off our trail." Maisie muttered. Her free hand was holding her rib cage that seemed to be pretty banged up. Never in her life would she of thought she would of gotten mauled by a dinosaur. Maybe she did actually.

Maya took a sharp left turn, then a right one when she heard the dinosaur make the left turn. Just like a video game. She took another turn which landed them into the cave.

Maisie removed her arm from Maya's shoulder and slid down the cave wall. Maya crouched down to her height, "you okay?"

"Yeah." she nodded smiling. She doesn't like to feel like the loose end. Even though she was being dragged through the woods three seconds ago.

Maya raised her eyebrows and Maisie rolled her eyes at the action, "no. My ribs are bruised probably."

"That means no action for you." Maya smiled smugly. She was always the one who was left in the dust and never had the chance to make decisions, so this was perfect.
