Just like pulling teeth

Seabrook, on this side we've got what people call the "normal" like us humans and everything is perfect, and everything's the same and nothing ever changes. Everything used to be all perfect, we had perfect houses, perfect clothes, the perfect life. Everything and everyone was perfect.

Until it wasn't it's hard to believe that all this perfection started by a simple spill made from lime green soda at the power plant but that's how it happened, and if I wasn't a part of the story, I never would've believed it myself. The side effects had turned people into brain eating zombies.

Yes, you heard correct zombies. Because of the zombie situation we built a fence to keep the two worlds separated, but now a lot has changed in the last 50 years, now we were safe and happy once again. With the humans on one side and zombies on the other. We might still have the barrier up, but we don't have the brain eating zombie problem anymore because now we're awesome.

Hi, nice to meet you I'm Zed, and you've met my sister, so you already know that me and my family are zombies. We have to wear government official clothes but it's no real problem because we design them however we want, and we've got a curfew, but we used to only be able to stay in Zombietown but we've came a long way thanks to Z-band. It basically keeps us from turning into brain eating monsters leaving zombies to have handsome, yet humble kids.

It was like pulling teeth for the humans, I cut in ready (outfit 4) for school. But then again it was like that oh you know about 14 years ago too when I became a part of the family, but my step family loves me for me even if I'm not a zombie, I'm not really human either, but I guess I don't really know what I am, but this year they're letting us zombies go to school with humans. That's where the like pulling teeth part comes in.

Zed, is both my brother and my best friend, I say swinging an arm around him. But he's kind of the only one. He pushes my hand off, while I stick in my contacts and put the green wig on spraying my skin with the white paint, and tossing some cans into my backpack. That's not true Ruby.

Eliza and Bonzo are your friends. Bonzo was easily convinced, and Eliza isn't exactly my friend. 14 years and she's still skeptical of me. You heard him call me Ruby and where it might be my middle name my step sister Zoey always had a hard time getting out Farrah so she started calling me Ruby and now I started going by that name.

I hear they have a theatre department there, I say brushing out my hair, and I'm gonna try to audition, if there's one group that tolerates different it's the theatre people, or rather I hope so. And Zed, well.... I'm gonna tryout for the football team. Now, in her bedroom Addison is cheering really happy about cheer that it's in her blood and can't wait to start Freshman year of high school and tryout for the cheer team.

Her mom is even the mayor of the town. The only different thing about her is that.... Is that my natural hair is silver. We don't know why Doctor's can't explain it, we try cutting it and dying it but nothing works, so I've worn a wig ever since. And I need to fit in and be perfect if I'm gonna be on the squad.

At home, our sister had always wanted a dog, but we can't have real animals because some people still think we'll eat them. So.... Zed, Ruby come 'ere. She calls us. I nudge Zed so that he'll get down on al 4s and he playfully rolls his eyes and follows my lead. Good boy, good girl, she says reaching down to pet us after we bark at her.

Kids breakfast, come sit down and eat. Now Zed, Farrah.... Yeah my step dad is the only person who actually still calls me that. I'm not so sure about this whole tryouts thing. Neither of you have really ever spent much time around humans, and humans don't really like zombies. Or anyone that looks different than them, he gestures to me.

That's just because they haven't met us yet. Zed teases ruffling my hair. Hey, I gotta keep this thing on straight. You're gonna make me blow my cover. I hate that you have to hide. It is what it is Zed, and I'm ok with it. Come on let's head out. Bye guys. Bye they wave out at us. At Addison's house her parents remind her that they needed cheer this year more than ever now that they were letting zombies into the school.

And, um aside from the obvious but if you see a girl maybe with blue skin, purple hair and red eyes, ignore her and stay away from her. Whatever you say mom. Well, I gotta get going bye. Good luck at tryouts.

We pick up our friends from their houses before we leave for the school, and then we leave the barrier and come to a gate where all the humans and zombies come together. This was really gonna be the year, his year, her year, our year, my year. And nothing and no one was gonna stop me or us and the best part we'd have class with humans and no more classes in some damp, dark dingy basement. Or so we thought.
