Isabella’s Point of View.
I yawned, thinking dinner tonight would be a bad thing. What would I tell Chase? How would he react? Just then, my phone rang. “Speak of the Devil,” I muttered, picking it up and clicking the answer button. “Hello?” I said. “Hey, Isabella! It’s me Chase!” I laughed. “What’s up?” I asked. “Looks like I have to work late at the office tonight. And, I have a surprise for you.” He whispered the last part. “What?” I asked. “Turn around.” I faced my room’s door to see Chase hanging up his phone and I ran to him. “How was your day?” He asked. It was horrible. “It was great,” I lied, and he laughed, giving me a kiss. He then began to pull something out of his back pocket. I could see Callum staring intensely from his room across the hall. “Well,” He began. “My boss wanted me to take a break from work. He said it was a gift. He gave me two tickets for a trip to and back from France.” Chase said with a grin. “That’s amazing!” I said, hugging him tightly. “Guess who I’m taking with me?” He said, laughing. “Who?” I asked, biting my lip. “You, of course!” He shouted. I giggled, but then frowned. “Mr. Reynolds didn’t want me to miss any school. I need to be here for the next two weeks, every day. It’s test season.” I frowned. It was only January. “B-but, can’t you just take two weeks off? The trip is three weeks long!” He said, frowning. “I’ll see if I can,” I whispered, burying my face in Chase’s chest. He nodded slowly. “I’ll be right back.” I said, wiping my face and walking out the room. Callum was still looking at me. I walked down to the principal’s office, knocking quietly. “Yes?” He opened the door to see me. “Oh, Ms. Pierce! Come in.” He said with a smile. I smiled back, and walked into his room.
Callum’s Point of View.
Who was Isabella talking to? It was the same guy from yesterday who she kissed. Was that her boyfriend? Husband? She really did change. Her frizzy chestnut hair was dyed black and slightly curled. It was in a bun. She was still short, but you could tell she got a bit taller. My best friend had really grown up. I began to felt guilty. I didn’t get to tell her why I really left for Southern California. My parents sent me off to my grandmother’s house. I needed to watch after her after my grandfather passed away, and my grandmother wasn’t doing well. I finished my 6 years of college with a teaching degree and my masters. I wanted to tell Isabella, but I knew she wouldn’t want to talk to me. I left her broken. I didn’t deserve to have her as a friend, I was a bad one. I remember exactly what she said to me. “How could you do this?” We told every single thing to each other. And I fucked it up. I remember her telling me not to ever talk to her again. Maybe we could start over; I want to get Isabella to trust me again. I loved and miss my best friend. I began to get up, making my way over to the man in Isabella’s classroom. He saw me coming, and a warm smile touched his face. “Hello,” I started, putting my hand out. “I’m Callum. Callum Edwards.”

I made my way back to my classroom, to be stopped by hearing two men talking. When I peeked inside my room, I could see Callum talking to Chase. “Oh my God,” I mumbled, hoping the two didn’t tell each other anything embarrassing about me. I knew Callum would. Both boys looked at me, and I slammed my hand against my head. “Hey Isabella, you didn’t tell me you knew Chase Cohen!” Callum shouted. “Shut up, Edwards. Just shut up.” I muttered in a barely audible tone. “What was that?” He said with a smirk. Now it was my turn to embarrass him. “Did you tell Chase where we were going later, Callum?” I said sweetly, rocking back and forth on my heels. Callum’s face went blank, and a blush was crawling up his cheeks. I giggled. “We? Where are you guys going?” Chase said, eyeing me carefully. I looked at Callum. “Tonight, there’s a teacher meeting. We were going to go, together.” Callum said, lying. He was completely calm, though. “You liar! You said you were taking me out to di—“ Callum covered my mouth, and Chase looked confused. “Well, I’d better get back to work. Breaks over in 10,” Chase muttered. He moved closer to me, kissing my lips gently. I heard Callum mutter something under his breath. “Bye,” I whispered in his ear. Chase smiled at me and then walked out. As soon as he left, Callum slammed the door close. “You didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend!” He shouted. “Why would you care anyway?” I said, rolling my eyes and walking over to my desk, packing up my stuff. “He’s not your type!” Callum shouted back. “Why are you being so ignorant? Don’t I deserve to be happy?” I said, slamming my fist on the table. Callum finally shut up. “Look, I don’t think dinner tonight would be a good idea.” I blurted out. Callum frowned deeply. “Why not? You should come. Please come?” I shook my head. “I don’t think I’m ready.” I said, sighing. “Isabella Marie Callahan, I swear, if you don’t go out to dinner with me tonight, I will drag you out of the school, to your house, make you change, and carry you back out, whether you like it or not.” I saw Callum smirking. “Fine. Let’s go.” I said, picking up my bags. “Let me take that,” He whispered, taking my school bag from me. I held my purse. “Callum Edwards is a gentleman? I would have never known.” I said slowly. “Yeah, yeah.” Callum mumbled and began to push me out of the classroom.
Callum and I both jumped into my GMC Arcadia. “Damn, you drive this?” Callum asked, and I nodded. “Is there a problem with that?” I asked, with a smirk. Callum stared at me in my eyes. I finally looked down. “Nothing is wrong with that.” He whispered, and I started the car up, my face a bright pink. I could hear Callum trying not to laugh.
