I woke up Monday morning, getting ready for classes. Chase left yesterday night for France, but still wanted me to come with him. He promised to call and send pictures, and I couldn’t help but smile. I showered quickly and threw on a pair of jeans and my jacket and was out the house.  Rebecca drove me to the school and promised to pick me up. Outside, I could see Callum leaning up against his car, looking the same just like he did in high school. “You should just talk to him.” Rebecca confessed. “I know. I don’t think I can. But, I’ll try.” I said, giving her a huge hug and getting out the car. Callum spotted me and began to walk toward me. I made a dash for the schools entrance and he was running after me now— fast. I opened the doors quickly, not spotting anyone near the office or in the hallway. I ran down it, making sure not to run into anyone. Callum was right behind me.  “Isabel, wait!” I became angry. “God, Callum! Don’t you ever get tired of chasing after me?” I screamed at him, and turned to face him. “Never.” He simply said, and I felt bad. I sighed, walking into my classroom now. Callum followed quickly behind me, shutting the door and pushing me up against it. I was breathing hard, becoming instantly nervous. “Wh—What are you doing?” I stuttered, both Callum and I’s chest beating fast and touching each others. “You won’t talk to me? I’ll just have to make you then.” Callum said, and his grip on my arms tightened. “Why are you ignoring me?” He asked, gripping hard enough that I felt like my wrists would fall off. I whimpered, and opened my mouth to speak. “Why not? It’s much easier then talking to you, and having to look you straight in the face without saying what I really want to.” I whispered. Callum’s face dropped. “What is happening to us? Why can’t we just get along like we did in high school?” He asked me, looking me straight in the face. “Callum, times change. And so do people.” I began to walk to my desk when Callum pulled me back. He drowned me in a huge hug, wrapping his arms around me and surrounding me in his sweet cologne. I took in a deep breath, relaxing. “I’m going to keep trying. Whether you like it or not, I’m going to.” He whispered, kissing my forehead. I blushed quickly, and said, “Why do you care? Why?” Callum looked at me in the eyes once more. “You’ve always been and you always will be my best friend. I love you, Isabella. I’m not going to give up.”

I sighed, the day going passed horridly slow. I checked on Isabella, who would keep herself busy from talking to me sometimes. Throughout different school periods, I would go into her room and watch her teach the class, getting glares from both guys and girls. I could tell the same thing was happening to her. The cheerleaders were being bitches as usual, so I told them to give Isabella, or Ms. Callahan a break. They listened almost immediately, sounding as if they were intimidated by me. Isabella kept giving me sad looks, as if she wanted me to help her, to get her away from all of this. I wish I could. Plus, lunch break was coming up soon. I planned to take her somewhere then. “Ugh,” She sighed, slumping down into her desk chair. She looked at me in the back of the room as I threw a marker up in the air and caught it over and over. “What’s up?” I asked, looking at her. “I’ve already gotten 5 threats, and the whole cheerleading team called me a bitch. That was kind of cool cause; they all got together and targeted me. So I just told them, ‘The sky is blue bitches, I could care less.’ But thinking about it now…” She said. I laughed so hard, I fell out of my chair. I could feel my face turn red from laughing so hard. “The sky, is blue, bitches?” I said, hiccupping from laughing. “It wasn’t that funny.” Isabella pouted, putting her hands on her forehead. “That was hilarious!” I said, banging my fist on the table. “God, it’s like I’m back in high school again.” She muttered, ripping up the notes on my desk. “You don’t look very happy here.” I sobered up, saying seriously while leaning back on the wall. Isabella looked straight at me. “It’s because I’m not,” She said. “When was the last time you let go? Just let everything go, clear your mind. Have fun?” I said, beginning to stand up. “Callum, I don’t have time for that stuff anymore—“   I stopped her. “Tonight. We’re going out. A club. Whether you like it or not. I’ll pick you up at nine.” She shook her head. “Oh God, no. Callum, it’s a school night! Why can’t we do this on Friday?” I laughed. “Why not tonight? Afraid you might not make it through the whole night?” I was testing her. I really wanted her to come. It would give me a chance to get back on her good side since the chaos that happened at the restaurant. “You’re on.” She said, smirking at me. I could tell this was going to be a good night.

I couldn’t believe I was going to let Callum take me out once again. I sighed, looking at Rebecca who was sitting on my bed. “Wear the dress I bought you!” She giggled. Half of my clothes were spread out on the floor, and I had no idea what to wear. “I think it might be too much,” I whispered, walking over to my closet. “Good grief, Isabel! It’s perfect!” She said, picking it up. It was eight – thirty; I knew Callum would be here soon. “Here, you go get dressed and I’ll clean this up.” I hugged Rebecca. “Thank you. I love you so much!” I shouted as she pushed me into the bathroom. I changed quickly, straightening my hair and applying a bit of makeup. I walked out of the bathroom and my room was cleaned. There was a pair of black ankle boots on my bed and I put them on quickly. I could hear noise coming from the hallway so I grabbed a black hoodie and ran out the room. “Damn, Isabella! You clean up good!” Callum said, checking out my outfit. “Shut up,” I mumbled, my face blushing already. He was wearing dark jeans and a nice gray V-neck. His abs could be seen through his shirt, and I tore my eyes away from the rest of his body. “Well, have fun! I’ll be here waiting!” Becca said, rushing us out the house. “You look really, really good.” Callum whispered in my ear as I got into his car. I bit my lip, my face turning even red. He laughed, getting into the car and we were off.

“Stay close to me,” Callum whispered, pulling me against his chest and keeping a protective arm on my back. His hands lingered on the revealing skin on my back and I tried to relax. I held onto the bottom of his jacket and we walked over to the bar. “I’ll be right back, don’t wander off anywhere!” Callum yelled into my ear over the loud music. I nodded and sat on one of the chairs next to the bar. A man who looked in his 20’s was the bartender. “Liking the club so far?” He asked, putting a menu in front of me. I nodded, looking for Callum once more before pointing to a random drink on the menu and the man chuckled. “Is this place always crowded?” I asked. He nodded. “Yeah. But it’s usually worst on the weekends.”  I took off my hoodie and held it in my hands. “So, you’re here alone?” He asked me. “Uh, no. I’m actually waiting for my, uh…” A hand was now placed on my back. “She’s here with her boyfriend.” Callum said over the music. “Okay dude. Want anything to drink?” Callum kept staring at the guy. “Sure. I’ll have what she’s having.” The man and Callum both exchanged looks. We both downed a few drinks and began to dance. The night has just begun.

About 5 hours later, I held onto Isabella’s arm and she stumbled out the club. “Damn, you only had 5 drinks. That was quick.” I muttered, as we walked to the car. She was filled with giggles and she was bubbly. I put her in the car, but she wouldn’t sit down. I jumped in the car, letting out a sigh. I leaned over, putting Isabella’s seatbelt on her. She giggled more, and her hands roamed all over my body. “Isabel, stop.” I warned her. I moved back to my seat, biting my lip. I hope she didn’t do that again. I drove over to Isabella’s house, and carried her up the stairs. I threw her on my back, her stomach resting on my shoulder. All she did was giggle and mumble with slurred speech. I tried stopping myself from smiling but I failed. “Hush!” I said, smacking her butt. She giggled even more, smacking mines back. I laughed and she reached up to kiss my cheek, extremely close to my mouth. I let out a small groan, licking my lips. She kissed me in the same place once again and I gripped onto her legs. “Stop.” I demanded. “Why?” She said giggling, kissing me over and over. I turned a shade of red, smacking her butt again. She was really drunk. “Stop that!” She said through giggles. I knocked on her apartment door and Becca opened it immediately. “Hey person!” Isabella squealed as she saw her and I bought her into the house. “Really? She’s drunk!” Rebecca screamed at me. “She barely had anything!” I said back. “Ugh.” I dropped Isabella onto her bed and she exploded in giggles. “Hey Callum,” She mumbled. “Come closer.” I walked closer to her. “Over more,” Now I bent down so I was face to face with her. “I love you.” She whispered in my ear and laughed. “Yeah, I love you too, Isabella. But you’re wasted right now, and I’m tired.” I said back. “No. Not like that. I really love you. Back in high school, I loved you!” She called out. I stopped in my tracks. Rebecca stared at me with wide eyes. I looked at Isabella who looked sober for a few minutes, until she busted out in giggles again. “I’m gonna go,” I muttered, pushing past Rebecca and walking out the house. “Wait, I need Callum!” I could hear Isabella scream. She couldn’t have been serious. She told me she loved me. I couldn’t believe her. Could I? Did she actually love me in high school? I bit my lip, exiting her apartment and driving away.
