Months passed, the same thing going on between Callum and I. We barely talked, and when we had to was almost never said anything to each other. We both still worked at the school, though he wouldn’t stay in my classroom for his free periods anymore. When our eyes caught onto each other, he’d look away quickly as if he was sinning by looking at my face. Chase still stayed in my apartment, but was planning to go back to Ocala in a week. Rebecca was being secretive as usual, possibly because my birthday was coming up also in a week. I sighed, sitting at my desk. I watched Callum from his classroom. He was writing something on the board. He was wearing a grey sweater and black jeans, looking brutally attractive. I bit my lip, hiding my smile. It quickly dropped when I saw a woman walk into his room. It was Lauren. He had a huge smile on his face and grabbed her in for a hug and kiss. He looked happy. I felt like my stomach dropped, thinking about all I’ve been through with the stupid kid, when he had exactly what he wanted and needed right in front of him. I felt bad for myself. Why did I even go through all the pain, just for him? I looked down, and looked at the room across the hall again. Callum’s eyes were locked onto mine. Why did he do this to me? I fell so quickly, and… and… I needed to get over him. It was a mistake, not even supposed to happen. Yeah, that was it. I looked down, planning to get ready for my next class after lunch.

Callum’s POV.

Five months dreaded on, and I missed Isabella more than anything. I wouldn’t tell her. I missed being close to her, kissing her soft lips, being able to sleep next to her, and just spending time with her. I missed her smell, I missed her. I was in my classroom, writing the assignment on the board. I could feel eyes on me, but I didn’t dare to turn toward the door. I knew it was Isabella. I bit my lip, hearing the door open. I had a feeling it was her. I turned around to face… Lauren. I smiled, but I wanted to frown. “Hello!” She squealed. I laughed, grabbing her in for a hug and a kiss. What the hell was I doing? I felt gross. “I missed you.” Lauren whispered. “I missed you too,” I mumbled, looking up and out the door. I could see Isabella watching the two of us, as if she was having a debate with herself. She looked like she could break down right then and there. And I didn’t blame her.

Rebecca’s POV.

Over the months, I began to ignore Isabella, only for a reason. I watched Callum’s girlfriend carefully, something wasn’t right. I remembered two weeks back, “Lauren, why doesn’t Callum ever come to your doctor appointments? It’s your baby, right?” I asked, raising my eyebrow. “Yeah. He’s always had to work, so it’s usually hectic to get him out during the day. That’s all. He’ll be in for the next appointment.” She said, sending me a fake smile. I was glad to return it. She was surely pregnant, and she looked like an evil watermelon.  I wasn’t done with her just yet. I was going to get to the bottom of all the drama that was floating between Isabella and Callum, if it’s the last thing I do.

Isabella’s POV.

My birthday approached, and it was on a Friday. It was also the day Chase would be flying back to Ocala. I got up quickly, waking up Chase. “Sorry,” I whispered, rubbing my head from the nightmare that had just subdued. “It’s fine. Happy birthday, by the way.” He whispered in my ear, kissing my head. I giggled, getting up. “I should start packing,” He whispered. I nodded, but I didn’t want him to leave. I didn’t want to stay here alone. He began packing his bags, and walked into the bathroom. I went out to the kitchen, finding Elsie lay out on the couch. I laughed, lying next to her. I began to doze off but my eyes opened wide when I saw Chase sitting in front of me with a bright red rose. “Isabella,” Chase said, sitting in front of me. He handed me the rose and I sat up on the couch. “What’s wrong?” I asked him. He shook his head, taking my hand. “I know I’m leaving today and there’s probably no chance I’m ever coming back to this city, unless you’d want me to, of course. But, I was thinking maybe you could come and live with me in Florida for a little?” Chase said, his eyes filled with hope. He pulled a ticket out of his pocket, it was a plane ticket. I was speechless. “Isabella?” Chase said. “Yes,” I whispered, giving him a hug. I was going to be living in Florida. What in the world was I thinking? “Okay, well we’re leaving tomorrow morning around 11, and I’m just going to finish packing. Thank you Isabella.” Chase said with a small smile. I smiled back, walking to my room.

“Why do you need all these shorts? It’s still spring and it still rains and snows in the city,” Becca muttered, looking at all the shorts I made her hold. She said she would buy me anything I wanted for my birthday.  We were in the mall, and I still didn’t say one thing about leaving to her. “Isabella, are you trying to tell me something?” Becca said, narrowing her eyes at me. I looked at her with a straight face. “No,” My voice squeaked. She knew I was lying. “I will put every pair back if you don’t tell me what’s going on!” Becca whispered. “Nothing’s going on. I’mmovingtoFloridawithChase.” I said quickly. “Repeat that?” Becca said. “I’m moving to Florida with Chase.” I said slowly. “Why?” Becca screamed, getting the attention of others around us. “It’s only for a month or two. I just want to escape New York for a while. Get rid of the bad memories.” I whispered. “B-but what about school? What about your mom? What about… Callum?” She said the last part slowly. “He’s the reason I’m leaving! I can transfer to a new school, and you can watch my mom.” I said, giving her a wink. She frowned. “You don’t have to leave.” She whispered. “I want to. I need to.” I said back. “But, I promise I’ll be back. As soon as you want me, I’ll be here.” I said, smiling at her. Her frown began to go away, and we kept picking out clothes.

Callum’s  POV.

I sighed, sitting on the couch. Lauren was in the back, getting ready for another doctor’s appointment—without me. I had the feeling she never wanted me to go. “Lauren?” I called out to her, grabbing my jacket. “What are you doing?” She asked me, slipping on her own jacket. “I’m coming with you.” I said smiling. “No Callum, don’t!” She said, looking nervous. I frowned. “I promise, you can come to the next one.” She said, kissing my cheek. She was definitely hiding something. She walked out the house and I picked up the phone, calling Rebecca.

Becca’s POV.

I walked into the hospital, getting ready for my night shift. I hated being alone here, especially at this time. It was terrifying. I dropped my bag at the counter, and I could see Lauren walking up to me. “Hello!” I said, sounding content. I actually hated the girl. “Hello, how are you?” She asked, smiling. “Like you really care,” I whispered under my breath. I was going to mess with her a little. “So when’s the next time you have to come in? And when will Callum be with you?” I asked her, rocking back and forth on the heels of my feet. She tensed up. “I don’t have to come back for a month, and that’s when Callum will be attending.” She smiled. “Oh,” I said, keeping my eyes on hers. She couldn’t even look at me. “Well, let me just schedule that appointment, yes?” I asked her. She nodded. I put my hands on my cheeks. “Oh no!” I said, sounding disappointed and upset. I was such a great actor. “What is it?” Lauren asked. “Seems like we’re going to have to get you in here tomorrow for another appointment. Sorry,” I said, typing her name in on the schedule for tomorrow. She mumbled something to herself. “What was that?” I asked, raising my eyebrow at her. She didn’t say anything. “I thought so.” I said grinning at her.
