My accounting firm is a small building that only holds a select few. After studying with the help of Randy, he got me the job so I can finally get to be around other humans. Randy was the one who introduced me to Jinx. She helped Randy and his older brothers years ago and since then, has used her potions to help him be a human at times.

I glanced over the clock that hung sadly against the beige walls. The day was almost over, which meant that I was closer to seeing Sade again.

"I got those sheets that you needed to be faxed," Randy adjusted his tie and leaned closer to my ear. Our cubicles were right next to each other so most of the time, he could shuffle over next to me or stand over. He usually stands over me, but I personally believe it's because he is smaller than me most of the time.

Even though people may see him as a human, he's actually just a regular talking raccoon who is helping me out when we go to the city in exchange for giving shelter to his family. "So how was the Jinx appointment?"

I turn away from him and jotted some numbers on the sheet. "I don't think I want to go meet her anymore."

Randy's dark brown eyes gleamed at mine. "Finally!" He sighed in relief. "I never met a human more insane than her. She used you more than what you actually bargained for in the first place. She walked all over you and, and-"

Our supervisor cleared his throat as he walked past us.

"Let's talk about this later, okay?" I say as I focus on the work and Randy sat right back down in his cubicle.

Our supervisor came to the front of the office and slammed a bunch of papers onto the main table. "Listen up everyone, we got a special announcement."

A bunch of people, including myself peered up from their work.

"So Mr. Duke was pleased with the team of accountants that were working on his investments and wanted to give them a special getaway experience with a plus one. Those of you who actually want to attend can just tell me after work, or just send me a notice so that he can get the preparations."The supervisor took a peek at his watch.

The supervisor stretched his arms out before tapping on the stacked papers. "You got by next month to say something."

I heard a couple of cheers coming from some people, specifically the women on the other side of me. Eventually, everyone was wrapping things up with their work before going home, or they were submitting papers to the supervisor.

My stomach churned harshly. Which only happens when I'm about to change. It was too early as it was only 5 in the afternoon. Randy looked back at me and tipped his head towards the bathroom. Which is our go-to sign to chat.

Perhaps this is happening because of the curse I put on Sade? Hopefully, nothing bad has happened to her as well.

"I'm staying in the city for a week, the missus and I had a fight and said she wanted some time to herself." He said as he washed his hands.

"What did you guys fight over?" They usually had arguments but never this bad where she kicked him out of the shelter.

"I couldn't forage enough food this week for us, so I took some from another." He wiped his hands on his suit.

"Oh, well, maybe I can be of help. I can also ask Sade if she wants to help, I'm sure she would be excited." Maybe this way, she won't be as terrified of some of the animals in the forest.

"That would be good, but if it's alright, could you help the squirrels? They need more help finding food than I do. It's like someone or something is just making things disappear. I mean, just the other day some bunnies came to me saying that many of their children were missing."
