Mom put a cast on my foot. I knew it was going to be a few days after drinking that elixer in order for my foot to feel better. For now, I'm just going to walk around with crutches.I haven't properly talked to Mom face to face ever since our last talk happened.
I can hear my annoying brother yell from the hallway, "Where's Sade? Did she really break her foot?" He scoffed at the thought of me being hurt.
I wanted to roll my eyes and try to suffocate myself with my spare pillow. I can't believe that he's back home. It's been a long time. I missed him but when he says shit like that I forget how much of a dickhead he can be.
Family Founders Feast was a holiday for the whole town that lasted for a whole week. The first three days are meant to be with family and doing activities while the fourth and fifth days are meant for the festival for the whole town. The second day is specifically to gifts to friends and siblings. The third day is to gift your parents and the very last day of the week, Saturday is to gift a loved one that's not family. Saturday is mostly for people with crushes or couples to give gifts and such.
Thursday and the weekend are also for tourists and where we make most of our revenue. It's a busy time even for us, although many people hate anything related to magic. Even though we keep telling them it's not magic. We get a lot of younger customers who are nice, open-minded, and tend to go for romance-related things.
Willy opened the door without knocking. "I know your ass is awake Saders, now get your ass up and hug me." He comes into my room, shouting and filling the room with sound and squeaks from his rubbery tall black boots.
"I'm wishing it wasn't the busiest holiday season and that you were back to wherever you were staying."
"Well, that's quite rude," Willy says, pouting while grabbing my crutches and making me get up. When he lifts me and hugs me, his face contorts strangely. "What are you hiding, missy?" He lifts my locs up away from my neck.
With shock, he brings his hand over his mouth. "This isn't what it looks like," I whisper and quickly cover the back of my neck.
He looks at me and rolls his eyes. "So now mom allows you to get tats, but I've been asking since I was eighteen. That's not fair." He lets out a puff and crosses his arms.
"Mom... actually doesn't know... either..." I look around, trying to ignore his second gasp.
"She's going to throw you out the house if she finds that. And you are not staying with me! I have way too much fun with my partner for you to be living with us, sorry." He sits down on the bean bag.
Now that I noticed, Willy's hair hasn't changed from the last time I've seen him. It's still that same afro with two braids hanging in the front. He's still wearing the clips Mom gave him before he moved away to ensure his safety. He always had that athleisure type of body and that classic mole on his lip. He usually had such an alternative clothing style, but I can tell he's grown from that and now explores more colors other than white and black. Out of all the jewelry on his hands, one in particular stuck out to me. He wore a silver band that had a small diamond on it.
There's no way it is what I think it is.
"So where is this so-called boyfriend of yours?" I asked him, nonchalantly. He sometimes loved to lie about having boyfriends and such. When in reality, they weren't dating they were more like flings.
"Um, I can say the same thing to you, girl?" He smirks as he sees me roll my eyes. "Plus, I don't need a boyfriend when I have a fiance." He shrugs and places his hand in front to flaunt the ring.
