Walking to my house, I felt like I couldn't finish moving my legs. I guess all of my energy was gone once I ran from those woods. People looked at me funny as I walked past them, most of the time it was because of what I wore or because they knew my family. Maybe it was because I looked crazy while having blood everywhere on me like I just murdered someone.

This time, they looked at me as I tripped and fell on the cobbled stone floor. I felt my eyelids become heavy.

I woke up to two little boys yelling at each other. My eyes flew across the room to see a familiar room, Jaz's.

Her red room was filled to the brim with pictures of us, news coverages of weird things that go on in the city, and clothes scattered across the room. Jaz sat in her chair that's meant for her vanity next to me and smiled when she noticed I was awake.

"Girl, where were you? My dad said you were faced down on the ground and nobody even called for police or help. It was a good thing my dad saw you while he was walking from the train station." She says this in a rush. She hugs me so lightly as I groan from my whole body aching. "We got you a doctor as soon as possible. Your mom wasn't home, so we brought you here. She should be here soon since her train is delayed."

Both of our attention went to the door. Mr. Sinclaire yelled at his sons to shut up before knocking on the door. He had a few cups of tea and some liquid ibuprofen.

"Dear, you're awake!" He comes closer, talking softly. "Are you okay? Why were you walking home like this? Was someone attacking you? How are you feeling?" He spammed me with all of these questions just like Jaz did.

"I'm alright, my body hurts but mostly my foot." I pointed at my bandaged foot. Mr. Sinclaire knew how to do basic bandages for injuries since his sons always played sports and he didn't have enough money to go to the doctors. "Thank you for bandaging me up and for finding me on the ground. Who knows what would have happened." Mr. Sinclair looked like he was going to cry.

"Sade as your godfather your father has told me to protect you as much as possible. So there shouldn't be a thank you. I just hope that the doctor comes as fast as he can. He'll take a look at your foot. Ella, er- your mom, will be here to get you as well." He smiled as he handed me a teacup and 2 spoons of honey. Jaz pets my hair down, trying to comfort me.

Jaz gives her dad an antagonizing glare, which I guess was his queue to leave. He got up from the end of the bed. "I guess this is my time to check up on the boys and see what they're fighting about. You girls have your talk." He says and closes the door gently with a sincere smile.

After we heard him leave the area and enter the living room we both held out a breath. Jaz looks back at me.

"What actually happened girl? Was it because of that guy you were with? I knew he was weird. On top of that, he was too fine to be walking around this area when people like him go to the club and can fuck a different girl every night. He didn't put his hands on you?" Her eyes swam in mine for answers, and relaxed when I shook my head 'no'.

"It wasn't him. He's not the one to do this to me. It was someone else." I take a few gulps of my tea. "A random man was fighting in the streets and I was trying to split it apart. Then he started to fight me."

I never had to lie to my best friend but I didn't want anyone to be a part of this. She probably has her own things going anyways, so why add my own problems on top of that?

"Oh. I know you're kind, but you should know your strengths. You shouldn't be stopping anyone's fights unless they did something to you specifically." She caresses my head and kisses the top of it like I'm her own child. Her face looks almost glowing. Like did she use a new cream on her face or a new sunblock?
