"That's... That's an interesting question." Sun spluttered as he tried to go forth on his next sentence. But at your unbreaking stare, his rays dropped once more. And there he went, fidgeting with his hands once more. "Maybe just a few," Sun admitted, rays clicking into place once more.
You felt a little bad, it was a prodding question, maybe a little too personal in general. Though his smile was unchanging and unmoving, you could tell he felt a little awkward under the unexpected question.
Much to your surprise, Sun suddenly doubled over, gripping and clawing at his face. Mumbling and grumbling as he turned away, tugging at his rays. His constant words of, "Stupid." "Annoying." "Irritating." "Malign."
Those clicks. They were louder and more tedious. Obviously, this was a struggle for the animatronic as his body shook. His rays spun slowly now, each time they passed a certain point it clicked. But as suddenly as the reaction started, Sun seemed out of it. Completely, and unnervingly fine.
With a final grumble, he turned back to you, shaking his head to clear the 'pain.' But now you noticed. His originally black eyes were now white, well... a very, very light gray/grey. His pupils were white, you could just barely see them. But the shadow cast across his face by his rays blocking the light helped you identify the glowing LEDs.
"Are you..." Well, how were you supposed to phrase this? You couldn't say 'Ok' because he obviously wasn't. You decided to go with a more put-together question instead. "What happened?"
"Don't." Sun snarled at you, the usual enthusiasm in his voice dropping to an all-time low. He shook his head, "Sorry. Sorry. It's just, it's always a painful process." Sun told you, eyes drifting away as he examined his left arm, the once blue arm now orange.
"S'pose it always happens, a forced transformation causes a forced gear change," Sun explained, crossing his arms as he stood upright, peering down at you with pain-filled eyes. You swore Sun was about to cry as the glisten from the light reflected a glare right back at you.
"And what exactly is a gear change?" You questioned curiously; you had a pretty good reason to back you up for asking this question. It was your job. How were you supposed to make upgrades and detailed blueprints if you didn't know how they worked?
"Well, we're two in the same, right? We can't exactly share everything, so, we have our own exclusive parts and mechanics." Sun tried to explain without sounding all too scientific. He fingered one of his lower rays before continuing. "At some point we are bound to change between the different parts, what you just saw was that change."
You nodded in slight understanding, wondering how all the parts could possibly fit into such a lanky body. With this added information you started to question how their physique even made sense compared to The Glamrocks. But The Glamrock's structuring was probably for show, to make them look more... appealing.
"Do you know why it's painful?" You could think of a few reasons as to why that might be, but you wanted an answer straight from the very thing that knew more about itself than you knew of it.
"I wish I did." Sun huffed, "S'pose I could assume it'd be," He was cut off by the obnoxious alarm you had set. You jumped at the loud ringing, scrabbling to pull the device out. You pressed the 'stop' button as soon as you could. Ending the PTSD-inducing rings.
"Sorry Sun!" You said hurriedly, slipping the cellular device back into your pocket, not waiting for a word you walked past him, pushing the large, brown, castle-like doors open. You looked back at Sun, giving him a friendly goodbye wave.
"S'pose I'll see you later Y/n!" Sun waved back at you, testing your name on his tongue. Perhaps he wasn't all too upset with your more than intruding questions after all.
You gave a small smile before slipping through the crack between the two humungous doors. You hurriedly walked up the stairs, passing the two large statues in the process. Wishing you could admire them more, you walked to the still-open entryway. You pulled out your phone once more, deciding to check all the notifications that clotted your phone.
You found that Shelby had texted you to report to your office. You supposed that made sense, but it did also make sense that it would be the very same place you spent most of your time day in and day out. But you couldn't help to wonder what 'short-term' projects they had for you. Surely things you could do before the week's end.
Perhaps they would allow you to examine the animatronics first-hand? Maybe they'd allow you to explore the Plex for the next few days, and let you familiarize the place at least.
And to be honest, you hoped they would cut you some slack. You were overly tired, living off of 5 hours of sleep with the day prior containing a lot of walking and exhausting activities. Your brain was practically a useless mushy organ sitting in your skull at this point.
So, when you finally made it to your office... it was lights out. Your legs propped against the desk as they were squeezed into your chair. You hugged your legs close to you as you rested your head atop your kneecaps.
7 am, Nothing.
8 am, Nothing.
9 am, Nothing.
10 am, Nothing.
11 am, Nothing.
12 pm, Stirring.
And by 1 pm, your body felt rested enough to pull you entirely from your heavy slumber. You opened your eyes; happy you hadn't turned your monitor on. If you had, you would've been blinded immediately. You did wish you had clocked in, but you knew you would've felt really guilty had you done so.
Letting your mind begin to process your surroundings, you reached for the power button on both monitor and computer. You waited for it to sync, happy it didn't require a password, instead making you set one upon opening a browsing tab.
You decided that you could now properly respond to Shelby's text without forcing your brain to work. Well, you had to make it work now, but it definitely wasn't as mind-numbing as it would've been.
Many of the messages consisted of, 'Are you Ok?' 'Are you still at the Plex?' 'Did Moon kidnap you?' You assumed the last one was more or less a joke, but it was quite true. He did keep you there, forcing you to sleep in The Daycare.
But you weren't all too mad about it, in fact, quite glad that he had done what he had done. You were also glad Shelby cared about you, but you weren't quite sure how to respond to the multitudes of texts she had sent you.
You decided to tell her that you were fine and uninjured. Purposely leaving out your little 'adventure' with Moon, you really didn't need to go into detail about what happened with the two of you. Not that it was bad or anything, just something you'd rather not openly talk about.
But now that there was nothing left to check or respond to, you focused your attention on the bright monitor before you. You decided not to turn the other monitors on, feeling that it wasn't necessary as of now.
You felt excited, anxiously excited. Whether your job would entail something interesting or not was unknown to you.
For now.
