"Emiliana Reyes, please report to the principal's office immediately," the words echoed through the cafeteria, I cringed at the use of my full name. I keep telling Harry not to use my full name, even when he wants to call me on the PA system. I sighed and put what was left of my lunch in the trash can and headed to the principal's office. Ever since I started high school Harry's office had become like a second home for me, because I was your typical rebel who didn't care about the rules.
As I walked into the main office, the receptionist Sheryl gave me a weird look and I glared at her in response, Sheryl had never liked me and I couldn't be bothered to care why. I walked into Harry's office and I saw a man in a sharp-looking suit sitting with Principal Madden. "Emiliana, It's nice to see you again."
"Harry you flatter me, at least this time I didn't get sent here," I said as I took a seat next to the man in the suit, who looked at me with pure interest.
"Emiliana..." Harry said.
"Myla, I thought we talked about this Harry. You know I hate it when people call me by my full name," I corrected, and he just sighed.
"As I was saying, I..." Harry was interrupted by my mother as she barged into his office.
"What did she do this time?" she said, looking at me disapprovingly while ignoring the existence of the man in the suit.
"Nothing Mama, at least not yet," I responded, getting me a whack on the head.
"Nora, Myla has done nothing wrong, at least not yet," Harry said.
"Then why did you call me in?" she asked.
"I wanted you to meet Edward Rayton, owner of Rayton Academy," Harry said referring to the man in the suit and my mum looked shocked.
"Why?" I asked.
"Harry and I are friends, and I've heard so many things about you Myla," he said, and I looked at Harry in disbelief.
"So you've been gossiping about me, that's harsh Harry," I said which earned me another whack on the head.
"Myla, we've talked about this. You don't call your principal by his first name."
"It's okay Nora, I don't mind. Myla, I've been telling Edward about a particular young lady who leads in all of her classes while finding time to wreak havoc," he said.
"At first I didn't believe him, but Harry convinced me, I want to offer you a scholarship," Edward said.
"A scholarship to the same person who sleeps in class and skips school?" Mama said and I just sighed.
"I believe Myla does that because she is not challenged enough. That's why she finds class boring because the class isn't stimulating enough."
"A scholarship to one of the most prestigious schools in America, of co..."
"No," I stated, and they stared at me in disbelief.
"No?! Emiliana Natalia Reyes, you're accepting that scholarship," she said, and I scoffed. At this point, I'm pretty sure she would have killed me if Edward wasn't here.
"I said no. I don't want to go to some fancy rich school filled with rich bullies," I stated and Harry burst into laughter.
"The last person who tried to bully you ended up with a broken arm, I think you can take care of yourself," Harry said.
"That was a long time ago," I stated
"That was last week on the first day of school," Harry said.
"In my defence, he was being a pervert. Besides everyone knows to stay away from me, especially on the first day of school."
"How about this, try out the school for four weeks and if you don't like it you can return here," Edward said.
"C'mon Myla, I believe Rayton would be the best place for you to flourish," Harry urged.
"Trying to get rid of me, Harry?" I said with a raised eyebrow.
"Why, would I try to get rid of the person who makes my day interesting with every little antic she does," he said with a small smile and I sighed.
"Fine," I said, then turned to Edward, "If I don't like it after the four weeks are over, I can return here?" I said, and he nodded. "When can I start?" I asked.
"With your permission Mrs Reyes I would like Myla to come today, to see the campus and stay over for the weekend before her admission is finalized," Edward responded.
"What about my mum and my things?" I asked.
"A car will go for your things and mum tomorrow. Don't worry Myla, everything will be okay," he said.
"Mr. Rayton, if you think that your academy can help my Emiliana, then I give you my permission," Mama said then walked out of the room, probably going back to work.
"A car will be here for you at the end of school to take you to the airport, I'll be waiting there," He said, and I nodded.
"Thank you Myla, you can go or not go to class, your choice," Harry said, and I chuckled as I went out of the office. The school halls were empty, I headed down to my locker, I didn't keep anything in there, mainly because there was nothing to stay in there.
I just packed some of my notebooks into my backpack, and as I was removing one of the notebooks, a picture fell out, I picked it up and stared at it before chucking it into my backpack and heading to class, my teacher stared at me as I entered AP Calculus, "Miss Reyes, it's so nice to see you in class today," I walked past her to my seat in the back and stared out the window till class was over.
**************
I walked out of school and saw a bunch of students gathering around something. " I can't believe how hot he is!" a girl said gleefully to her friend as they ran to join the crowd.
"I guess he's around," I jumped and turned to see Harry holding back his laughter.
"I thought you liked me," I said.
"I do," he responded.
"Then why the hell would you do that?!" I yelled, he shrugged and kept looking at the crowd. "What did you mean by he's here?" I asked and was met with no response.
Harry walked towards the crowd and looked back at me, " Are you coming?" I nodded and followed him to the crowd. "Attention all students, the last person to leave the school premises will be given a month of detention!" all of a sudden, the crowd dispersed leaving a boy standing by a Camaro.
"Nelly..." I whispered. I thought I would never have to see him again after what he did to me.
"Mr Grayson it's nice of you to volunteer to pick Myla up," Harry said, and I turned to him wide-eyed.
"No. . ." I stated.
"Myla. . ."
"Anyone but him," In front of me stood the boy who broke my heart, who left me when I needed him the most. In front of me stood Nathaniel Grayson, the boy who I called my best friend all those years ago.
