I heard a knock on the door and ran downstairs, I opened it to see Max. My heart dropped when I saw the bag in her hand. Eddie must have given her my stuff that I left at his house.
"Hey, um Eddie dropped this off and wanted me to give it to you," she handed me the bag that I had left at Eddie's house. "Thank you," I sighed. "Are y'all okay," she asked. "No, far from it actually. Jason is just a dick ya know," I awkwardly laughed, not knowing how to really talk about it without crying.
"Okay well I've gotta go, I just wanted to drop this off to you," I nodded. She hugged me, "I'm sorry that happened. I know you really liked him," I hugged her tighter. "I love you, Max," I said. "I love you, Skye," she replied before leaving.
I walked back up to my room and threw the bag to the corner of my room. I fell onto my bed, laying on my stomach and groaning dramatically. I looked up at the clock on my bedside table, it was 6PM. I decided I should get ready to talk to Eddie.
I got up, put on a white pleated skirt and a pink sweater, I threw on a pair of my white converse then put my hair into a ponytail. I decided on no makeup.
I got into my car and began driving to Eddie's.
When I arrived at the trailer, Eddie's van wasn't there. I still decided to try anyways. I walked up the steps and begun to bang on the door. I waited a few minutes, holding out hope.
Still no answer.
I got back into my car and drove to Dustins house, I mean he did say that Eddie had been staying with him.
I pulled into the driveway and ran up to the door, still no sign of his car but I had to try. I couldn't give up.
I began to bang on the door, harshly, once again. I waited a couple seconds before his mom answered. "Hi Claudia!" I said waving at her. "Oh Skye, hello! It's been a while!" she said pulling me into a hug. "It has," I said patting her back. "Are you here for Dustin," she asked, stepping back. "Yes ma'am," I said. "He's just in his room, you go right ahead," she replied.
I walked back to Dustins room, hoping that I would see Eddie sitting in there.
I knocked on the door, "Come in," he yelled. I walked in and he looked over at me. "Oh hey Skye, what's up," he asked. "I went to Eddie's house to talk to him but he wasn't there, I was coming to see if he was maybe here," I said, a little defeated that he wasn't there. "No uh, he's not here," he said. "Okay thank you," I said before walking out.
I drove back to my house. I walked in and everyone was sitting in the living room.
It was Lucas, Max, Robin, Steve, Nancy, and Mike.
"Okay, what's this? Y'all look insanely creepy," I said walking up to them. "We have decided that we will be throwing you a feel better sleepover," Robin jumped up. "Okay," I laughed. "Go get some pajamas on because we're doing it in the Wheeler's basement." I nodded and walked upstairs. I threw on a pair of fuzzy pajama pants and a black cropped tank top.
I walked downstairs, "Okay, let's head out," Nancy said walking out. We all followed, we split up in mine and Nancy's car.
We drove over to the Wheeler's and got out of the car. We all instantly ran into the basement. "Wait why isn't Dustin coming," I asked. "He didn't answer," Lucas shrugged. "Well try again, I want him here too," I said opening a beer that was on the table.
Max tried to grab one too but I swatted her hand away.
Steve walked to the phone and dialed Dustin's number. "Hey Dustin, it's Steve," he said. I heard various Mhm's coming from him as he listened to Dustin talk. "Okay I won't," his voice pitched higher. "Yes Dustin I promise I won't," Steve said before hanging up.
"He can't come, he has some homework to finish," he said sitting down and grabbing the other beer. I looked at him a little confused.
Why would Dustin having homework get such a big reaction from him.
I just brushed it off. "Hey guys, lets play a game," Mix said grabbing Uno out of a drawer. Steve shuffled and passed the cards around.
"You little fucker!" Robin yelled as Max put down a draw 4. We all laughed at them as they began to bicker about it.
We played four games, Lucas and Steve tied. "Okay this one is the last game. The tie breaker," Mike said, very dramatically.
This game was VERY intense. Steve did end up winning. It's a whole thing, Lucas always wins when Steve isn't there, Steve always wins when Lucas isn't there.
We decided to finish the night off with Pizza and a movie. We were watching Back to The Future and devouring two large pizzas.
Max had called me over as she got up and walked out of the basement. I followed her up the stairs all the way to Mikes room. "Okay sit down, what's going on. Eddie is going crazy, I saw him laying on the roof of his van while the sun was setting. I've never seen him to that before, it was weird," I laughed at her facial expression. "Long story short, Jason came back to apologize, he kissed me, I didn't tell Eddie, Jason told Eddie at the party, now he hates me," I said, talking extremely fast, wanting to get through it without thinking too much about it and crying.
"Okay, that's a lot," she said. I nodded. "Do you mind if I ask you something," she said. "Anything," I replied. "Why didn't you tell him about Jason," she asked. "I love him, and I was scared that if I were to tell him that he would hate me. So I decided to risk it and not tell him and just hope that he never found out," I said. "You're a dumbass," she said. I scoffed at her, "What," I asked. "You're a dumbass Skye. He loves you too, you didn't think that he would forgive you if you just talked to him," she said. "Yeah I see that now," I said looking at the ground. "Go," she said. I looked at her confused. "Go to a place that's special to y'all, think," she said. I nodded and walked out.
I jumped in my car and began to drive. I got out of my car and began to hike up a path leading to Skull Rock.
I went to sit on the rock that Eddie and I had watched the stars on. The one where he asked me to be his girlfriend.
I sat there, leaning back on the rock behind it. Watching the sky. I jumped upon hearing branches snap. I turned to look at the path.
"Eddie?"
