On Monday, Marcy is caught praying on school grounds, which isn't technically against the rules but it is upsetting for another student who just wanted to bitch. Some girl that was jealous of Marcy complained about seeing her pray just to get her in trouble.
It started a huge thing where Marcy wouldn't back down. She came into glee and sang Flyleaf's All Around Me. It was gorgeous (in my head) but only one person didn't like it. Kurt.
He didn't understand why she wouldn't just give up or why she had to pray at all. It caused a riff in their relationship.
Ellen also had questions. She wanted to know if she was going to hell for loving Marcy but Marcy had an honest and frank conversation about her own beliefs that was truly beautiful but I know I can't remember verbatim. They were in Travis, going home, I think and it really soothed the redhead.
That whole week was a disaster as the religious kids and the non religious kids grew hostile towards each other. They was a hearing for the school board that Thursday and Marcy was going to speak.
That Thursday, Kurt found Marcy crying in an alcove during class time and wanted to know what was up.
She gave him some flip answer about him hating her.
He said that she was still his friend and that he didn't want her crying.
She explained that she was crying because she had gotten a negative on an OTC pregnancy test and that was what she's been praying for on Monday. She'd wanted a positive and she'd prayed before she'd taken it but before she could see the results, Principal Figgins had called her down to his office.
She hadn't had a moment to check until now and it was negative.
Kurt felt awful. He had to take a moment to see why he was so against prayer and religion and came to the realization that it had to do with his mother.
He comforted Marcy before she left to go back to class. Then he skipped school to go back home. He found his dad and asked him pointblank why they stopped going to church after his mother died.
That opened up a hard but cathartic conversation between father and son. Kurt was still unsure where he stood on religion but he knew where he stood on friendship and went to that school board meeting to support Marcy.
Friday was a lot calmer.
Let me put this in before I forget (again!) Jake came over for family day the second Monday and Marcy cooked. I think it was chicken and fries or something. It was just finger food but they were fried finger foods and it was all delicious and Jake's mom came to pick him up. She was awed by the house and her name is Vivian but I had to put Johnson in my other stories because I forgot what her original surname was but it was good.
Anyway, Friday. Mercedes and Quinn wore matching outfits and marveled over their being twins. I don't know why but it was a cute scene as they walked down the stairs together.
Fair day showed up that Saturday and they needed it after that chaotic week. Everyone showed up, including the newbies and their parents. Everyone still had to contribute.
Lisa had a friend she wanted to invite, Carla Delarosa. Don't ask why I remember her last name and no one else's. Carla had an older sister named Carrie-Ann and an older brother named Chris. Carrie-Ann is Maddie and Stevie's age while Chris is Nic's, Stacie's and Stella's.
They go play and I have no idea what this fair day's theme was. I think it was diamonds like Quinn wanted but I'm not sure.
I think fair day went well cuz nothing jumps out in my memory.
I think something with Finn and Santana? Maybe not. I don't remember.
So Sunday goes well and all the talk at dinner and brunch is about the party that Saturday. Marcy handled every detail and it was all coming together.
Monday is a sharp contrast.
Nothing happens that anyone is prepared for.
Eliza gets a message to meet up with Mal (I don't know why I didn't make it Puck when she had the crush on him but I said Mal) in a deserted closet.
The school is all a flutter when a janitor finds Eliza's body in an open closet. Everyone thinks that she deserved her beating but worried about who did it. Was it a stranger? Was it one of the girl's numerous enemies? Who was next?
I remember now that the school thinks Marcy's afraid of Eliza because Marcy continued being nice to her but they really think something's up with Marcy when she goes to the hospital to sit with Eliza while she's in her coma.
On Wednesday, the siblings learn something terrible. They've been trying to get in touch with Marc for two days and Laura heard talk around campus that no one would tell her to her face.
They finally get news that Marc's in rehab. They're all shocked by the news but even further that it was involuntary.
Marcus had taken his revenge on Marc by setting him up with rehab against his will. It hurt Marc's case that he'd been using more and had clear signs of drug abuse on his body.
The only reason he went without a real fight was because the case manager brought up his siblings and played on Marc's brotherly guilt.
The girls had a heart-attack and a half while Mike and Mal were truly hurt.
In the morning before glee, Marcy sat four stools in front of the group as she sang lead with them in the background, Stacie Orrico's (There's Gotta Be) More to Life. It's so haunting with just drums and piano that their friends immediately ask what's going on.
Mike says how it's family business but it's clear that they're all fighting back tears.
Mr. Shue is terribly concerned and makes a note to talk to one of the five throughout the day.
The days pass and it's Saturday. The girls are seriously sad about Marc but he was allowed his first phone call since he'd been "locked up" and told them to continue living. He thought he'd stay until they released him instead of leaving by force.
He spoke about how he was using more and he knew it had to do with the baby. The grief therapist had told him that he would hit a wall one day and he didn't want to be around his siblings when he did.
They begrudgingly accepted that.
So Laura and Mal would be going to grief counseling alone because Marcy still refused to go.
As for the party, it sparkled. Everything was black, gold and silver with a touch of white. It was dark inside but shone like a disco ball.
Everyone's outfits resembled outfits from the 1920s and they were sharp as a pin.
Jake, Ryder, Kitty and Marley got drunk as skunks.
Ryder and Kitty struck up a deal to "date" for a while but that didn't last. At least fake dating didn't. Jake and Marley were trying out dating for real from jump street.
But all four had a blast and got tore up.
Marcy's and Mercedes' shy asses recited poetry and Lisa convinced Maddie and Nic to sneak into the party, where they got caught.
There was talk of Eliza but people really let their cares go so they could have fun.
