The next morning, Caesar woke up as the sun was first rising, but felt that the bed next to him was empty. It was unusual, so he called out, "Katelyn, where are you?" Katelyn came out of the bathroom and said, "Good morning. I'm sorry, I just had the sudden urge to use the bathroom this morning," she said as she strode back to the bed. She laid next to him and said, "We need to get ready to meet Queen Cisna." "We can in just a few minutes. We need to talk, first. Something is bothering you, and I just don't know what." "It's nothing. Just a feminine thing that I was thinking about." "No, tell me. I felt your worry last night and now I'm worried." "Okay, so, my period may be late by a few days and it usually never is. I don't know if it is my body adjusting to its new surroundings or..." He looked at her and knew what her fear was. "You're worried you could be pregnant." She nodded a little and said, "I just don't want to be fighting if I am. Along with that, we don't know how long this war will go on, and I don't want to bring a child into the middle of it." "You don't need to worry. No one will be upset if you sit out on the fighting, but you don't know just yet. Doesn't it take a few weeks to know whether you are or not?" She nodded and started to tear up, "I just feel like I'll make a horrible mother. I feel like I should be worried about its safety and put it first if I am pregnant. If I'm not, I wouldn't have to worry so much." "Hey, hey," he said, pulling her into his arms, "There is no need to worry about that. You will make an amazing mother. And you don't need to worry about it just yet if you don't want to, but we could see if a mage or healer can sense a second life force inside of you if you want." "They can do that," she asked. He wiped a few tears from her eyes and said, "Yes. Do you want to find out?" She nodded and he said, "Well let's get ready, then." They both got themselves washed and dressed for the day and made their way to the castle infirmary. After being directed to a room, a young nurse walked in and asked them, "What is the reason for your visit today?" Katelyn and Caesar looked between one another, and she said, "I'm worried because my period is late." "Okay, how late is it?" "Well, it's about four or five days late now." "And have you and this young gentleman been sexually active?" She said, "Yes, he is my husband. I'm just worried about getting pregnant while this war is going on. We are both on the front lines." "Okay, can you lay down for just a moment?" Katelyn laid back as the nurse moved to lift her shirt. She said a quick incantation and said, "Your period is indeed late my dear. I feel a small presence, but not fully developed yet. It is just starting to come together. It may develop into a pregnancy." "May," Katelyn questioned. The nurse nodded and said, "It's up to you, but if things proceed as they are, you have about a weeks' time before we would declare you to be officially pregnant." Katelyn felt a little bit nauseous at the words and Caesar said, "That means I'm going to be a father." "Yes. Now, I would just make sure your abdomen is always protected and do be careful if out on the battlefield. Make sure you sleep a proper amount of time each night. I also can get you some vitamins to take if you would like." Katelyn took in the news and said, "I will take them, please." "Okay, I will be right back with that bottle. Oh, and I guess, congratulations are in order." Katelyn sat there, still not fully processing that she would be a mother. "Do you need someone to talk," Caesar asked. Katelyn nodded and said, "Can you get Yulie and bring her here please?" He nodded and said, "I'll be right back, my love." She nodded as he left the room.

After about ten minutes, the door burst open, and Yulie came in. "I came as quick as I could. Caesar said you were in the infirmary, so I bolted down here." "And she didn't listen to anything else," Caesar said as he came in behind her out of breath. "I'll be right out here talking to the nurse about those meds, okay?" Katelyn said, "Okay. I'll see you in a few." "Okay, spill. What is going on?" "Well, I may be at the beginning stages of pregnancy. Like literally just starting to develop. But I noticed my period was late and now I'm freaking out because I feel like I shouldn't be on that battlefield. I feel like going out there puts me and it at risk and that I'm just going to be a horrible mother if I can't even protect the child inside of me." Yulie could see the fear in Katelyn's eyes. She pulled her in for a hug and said, "Hey, you aren't going to be a horrible mother. Who knows if you are actually pregnant if it's barely even began? There's still a small chance that you won't become pregnant too." "I know, but who knows how long this war will drag out. I'm worried about bringing a child into a war." "I wouldn't worry because I feel like this war will end within the next week or so. Yshrenia is losing ground fast, and it is showing." Yulie rubbed soothing circles against Katelyn's back as she talked that made her start to feel more levelheaded. "You're right. It could end tomorrow for all we know. I shouldn't worry is what I'm hearing." "No, you shouldn't. Now, Queen Cisna postponed the meeting a little because of your trip down here. Let's not keep her waiting any longer." Katelyn nodded and said, "Let's go." Caesar was leaning against the wall and asked, "Are you good to go?" Katelyn nodded and said, "I love you, you know that, right?" Caesar pulled her to his side and placed a kiss on her lips. "And I love you too. With all my being. And if you do end up being pregnant at your follow up, I will be there every step of the way." The three went to the kitchen to grab food quickly and ate it as they walked towards the throne room. Upon arriving, they were announced. Caesar made his way over to Leonard, Eldore, Scardigne, and Sapphire as Katelyn and Yulie made their way up to where Queen Cisna sat. "Lady Katelyn, I heard you were in the infirmary this morning? Is everything alright?" "Yes, Your Grace. I am in good health." "Alright, I also have a question? Were you and lord Caesar in the gardens last night?" Katelyn blushed a little and said, "We were. Is there a problem?" "No. We just had some guards hear some strange noises last night, but they couldn't find the cause. They described the noises they heard, and I told them that it was most likely the newly married couple getting into some shenanigans." Katelyn blushed and said, "Sorry to have caused you trouble. It won't happen again." Cisna gave her a wink and said, "No trouble at all." Yulie stood next to Katelyn and couldn't help laughing at the poor girl as her face turned an even brighter shade of pink.
