''Ooh, block it all out
The voices so loud sayin', "Why did you let her go?"
Does it make you feel sad
That the love that you're lookin' for
Is the love that you had?''

CONNOR'S POV

I take off my AirPods as I stand up from my seat and walk out of the train. It has been a hectic day. It's been four months since I lost my job at the bank and finding a new job has been exhausting. Most companies aren't hiring right now and even if they are, they are not looking for an accountant. After an absolutely disastrous interview, I walk to Starbucks to grab a coffee.

As I walk, I see a crowd gathered in front of Starbucks. Walking closer, I could faint guitar music and melodious singing. A street performer was playing. A regretful feeling embarks in me, maybe music would have helped. Maybe I should have held onto music, maybe she was right.

As soon as I think of her, she appears. On a huge billboard, right in front of me, in the busy streets of New york.

I see her everywhere these days. For someone who had a music-centered life, she sure didn't end up in the way I thought she would. The CEO of the biggest cosmetic line ever, ELLISON.  She was on the cover of every intense feminist magazine. She was considered a corporate queen for building an empire from nothing and all at the tender age of 24. I heard she discontinued school at 17 and joined the business school, but it still leaves me perplexed when I think about her.

She wanted a prince charming for herself, not million men under her feet. She wanted a love story, not a powerful motivational story. She wanted me, but now she hardly goes on dates.

What happened to you, Rosa? What do you think of me now? Are you in love with someone new?

I take a seat next to the glass window at Starbucks. I open my Laptop and log onto my LinkedIn. I start my online job hunting and something pops up. When I read the notification, I freeze.

ELLISON is looking for a responsible person who can maintain accounts and keep a record of stock and also serve as a PA to Rosalinda Ellison. They're only taking in someone who's proficient with skills, vigilant in the records, and confidential with company affairs. They are also taking in only a limited number of candidates.

I would be over the moon if an offer like this popped up, and in times like this. Only if Rosalinda Ellison was just a CEO and not the girl I rejected in my youth. Not the girl who loved me once and probably doesn't right now. Even if she did, she won't take me in for the job. I've heard numerous tales of how she has been stern and strict with her employees. The salary was a lottery though, working for ELLISON would be a dream come true for any worker.

The position offered also was a terrifying one. A PA would be too much. A PA to Rosalinda would be someone who's always with her. Someone who accompanies her to every event keeps track of her finances and also her schedule. A PA would know the unrevealed secrets of Rosa too. As much as I would want to apply for this position, I don't have the confidence to face Rosa. I could just wait around for another month but the bills are lining up and I have to pay for them. I have to pay them for her. Only she matters to me right now, facing Rosa is a grain of salt when I think about her. I have to save her, the only person who matters to me right now. The only person who's left. She needs me as well, I'm her only hope.

He braces himself and opens the website and applies for the interview.

For the hope of it all.
