What superpower would you have if you had the choice?
The next day, Emery didn't go to the shop. He called in claiming sickness and took the walk to Elliotts.
The man greeted him with a surprised smile. "You're just in time." He said, ushering Emery in.
They hadn't seen each other for a long time but the man still welcomed him in with open arms, nearly burning himself again when he tried to pour himself a cup of coffee.
"I've been noticing some irregular sky activity for the past few hours. Disruptions in the natural weather cycle in this area. I'm glad you're here wait- how did you know?"
Emery's mind flashed back to last night. He shrugged. "Just had a hunch I guess." He said but Elliott was barely listening, intently looking out the window, to his screen monitors, and back out the window. Emery joined him by his side for a while, watching people pass idly. When nothing happened and his neck started cramping, he moved away from the window in favor of moving around and doing anything to keep himself occupied.
He didn't really think further than just coming to Elliotts. He hadn't thought that he may be totally wrong about Five or if he wasn't- how long it would take the boy to come. He ended up sitting on the couch he used to use as a makeshift bed for the longest time and reading a book.
Elliott gave it a break too after some time and moved with a sigh to the kitchen where he brewed another cup of coffee and sat down at the small circular kitchen table with his head in his hands as he waited. Both of their knees were bobbing restlessly as they waited and even after several hours, neither of them left.
Their efforts paid off in the end though as the sky crackled and something flashed in between the curtains.
Elliott fell out of the chair he was sitting in, spewing curses through his mouth as he scrambled up and towards the window. He kept them drawn and Emery had to stand and crane his neck above Elliott's crouched figure just to see through the small gap left. When he tried to ask the man about it, he received a firm shush that left no room for further questioning.
The cloud of blue was there again, just like it had been months ago but instead of falling for it, Emery watched from a new angle as a boy was spat out into the alley confused and disoriented. He pushed himself up immediately and whipped around to look at the cloud, calling for his siblings. "Diego! Luther! Emery!" He gave up when he realized he was alone. Emery moved to open the window and call for Five but Elliott was grabbing his arm, protesting, saying that he just needed a minute, just needed a minute to- he snapped a photo and pulled the camera away from the window, clasping the curtains shut tight.
"Why-"
"I've been tracking everyone with pictures." Elliott said, a new photo in his hand now. He shuffled across the room and plastered it along with the others. Emery followed Elliott to the wall and saw the plastered photos. Most of them were blurry with the subjects head half turned and unfocused. He saw one of himself too and Elliott looked at him almost guiltily when he noticed Emery looking at it. They moved away and back to the window. The look that passed over Elliotts face was comical when he noticed Five wasn't in the alley any more.
"Where'd he go?" The man asked.
His question was soon answered by a loud knock from outside.
"Before you meet him," Emery began. "You should also know that he tends to be a little hostile sometimes, one might even go as far as to say crazy." Elliott whimpered slightly and shrunk in on himself. "But I think they're just being over dramatic." Emery concluded.
"Oh wonderful." Elliott sighed, timid in complexion now.
He headed to the door carefully and opened it, sticking his head out.
